| Rene is having a difficult war. He is not frightened by the Gestapo; he is not frightened by the Germans; he is not even frightened by the French Resistance. But his wife Edith scares the living daylights out of him! And now that he has been shot dead and is posing as his own twin brother, it appears he may have to woo her all over again and even remarry her in order to gain back his cafe, which he left to her in his will. But he has also promised to marry Yvette and Maria, his two sexy waitresses. Throw in three garlic sausages, one of which contains "The Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies," one of which contains a forgery and the third of which is an actual sausage, and you have a very difficult war indeed! |

 Written on February 11, 2006 Summary: spectacular British comedy! This is the most brilliantly-written comedy series ever. From the very first episode to the last, all the characters are consistent and hilarious. The plots are clever and each builds on previous episodes. Not a single word is wasted; each is carefully chosen to add something to the story. I won't give away the story lines, so I'll just tell you it is set in France during WWII. The main character is Rene, played by Gordon Kaye, who owns a cafe, and occupies his days trying to balance getting along with the Germans, the French Resistence, the Communist Resistence, his wife, who thinks she can sing, his mother-in-law, British airmen, various onion-sellers, the Gestapo, and the two lovely waitresses with whom he is having affairs. In some ways it's like the British series, "Are You Being Served." If you have ever enjoyed a single episode, you'll want to see all of them. You'll want to watch them again and again, and share them with friends. Written on September 16, 2005 Summary: 'Allo,'Allo Series two -the laughs continue!! Series two takes up where 1 ended, still the silliest, funniest show on war ever!! One feels right at home at CAFE RENE with the entire gang.. series two introduces the British officer Crabtree in disquise as a French policeman...One of my favorites , as he conducts his espionage in "Fractured French" . Finally, But when will the others season come out the show ran for like 10 years This Show is SOOOOOOOOOOOO Good, but most american have not seen this GREAT Show Written on April 18, 2005 Summary: Risque' Rene' "Allo Allo!" Has been around since 1982 and has just recently become available in the USA on a decent media. This particular complete series one contains eight episodes: "The British are Coming" starts the series and explains many things that happen later in the series. "The Fallen Madonna" with the big whatever. Will set a reoccurring theme as Colonel Kurk von Strom has pilfered the painting for his retirement. Keep you eye on it through the series as it becomes a shell game. ------------ Basic story is of a café owner René; this is in France during the WWII occupation. He must balance dealing with the local Germans, the Gestapo, the good Resistance, the commie Resistance, having affairs with his female help, dealing with his wife and mother-in-law. Throw in some downed British airmen and some onion soup. I will not go though this series in detail because for those that have not seen it or if it has been while since viewing the series, the surprise factor and the one liners are worth discovering first hand. The series two includes the introduction of an English officer that thinks he can speak French and comes out with statements like "she has great Fartitude" This is the series where they also nick Helga's knickers with the little swastikas. One nice thing about this series is that they place the name next to the actor at the end of each episode. Most of the actors are well known out side of this series. I was shocked however to find that Gestapo Herr Otto Flick (Richard Gibson) Played British Capt. Newman in Ken Follett's "The Key to Rebecca" (1985) and completely changed his accent. I hope the will release the others "Three Hail Mary's and two Heil Hitler's." Written on April 8, 2005 Summary: Listen carefully, I shall only say this once!!!! I grew up in Europe with Allo Allo and it is a blessing to be able to watch it now on DVD. THE BEST british comedy series ever. AAAAAAAA++++++WESOME |
