 Written on February 22, 2008 Summary: Little Space Helpers The movie is "cute". Not super funny, not super anything. It was worth watching, just not a "classic".  Written on December 26, 2007 Summary: Tandy and Cronyn at their best I recently bought this DVD after having loved the movie for years. My youngest son watched it with me in delight. While the special effects are not as clean as what we watch now, the "little critters" are too cute not to fall in love with. The plot line is a bronx brown stone about to be demolished to make way for new development. The developer tries to pay off the residents to leave and while a few do, the one that say are not going anywhere without a fight. Of course, a few metal aliens on your side never hurts in a fray. Lots of typical sterotypes for characters, but it is Jessica Tandy who's performance shines in this movie. She portraits an aging wife with alzeheimer's, who is still living mentally in the 1960 before her son was killed. Her performace is as poignant as it is accurate. If it would be nice to have a movie in your collection that has a happy compromise at the end, instead of death and bloodshed, this would be that movie. Written on October 31, 2007 Summary: Hasn't lost it's appeal My grandchildren aged 7 and 5 just loved this movie. Age hasn't dimmed it's appeal, the humour or the messages it gave. Well acted, well written, just great family viewing. Written on October 30, 2007 Summary: Batteries not included... I liked the show just as much if not better the second than the first. It brought back fond memories of when it first came out and I saw it on the theater screen. Written on September 14, 2007 Summary: An rarely heard of classic The official review by Amazon misses the point of this fun movie. True, if you are expecting the greatest movie of all time then this might fall a little short but honestly, it's just a fun movie. The story is simple but charming, the nolstalgia factor of the 80's wonderful and the special effects are great for it's time. And it really has some heart to it. Overall it's great to see this again after so many years and most people I know think it's a lot of fun, with a healthy dose of cheese! ;) |
