Written on March 25, 2008 Summary: GOLDEN Simply the best.. I love you Glen & Marketa for such beautiful songs of truth and conviction. This is for WPBIP who left a neg review..like with all types of music it is all a matter of taste. You either have it or you don't and it's quite obvious you don't. Star Star teach me how to Shine!!!  Written on March 23, 2008 Summary: Quite possibly the most overrated soundtrack of all time If you only read one sentence of this review, let it be this one: listen to the samples of these songs before you buy. This CD is excruciatingly awful. It's as though a truly talentless soul looked into the mirror, realized that only drunks and coyotes would appreciate his voice, and decided he's better make a movie about the songs he wrote if he wanted anyone to listen to them. Success! The sad part is the music is awful. Really awful. There are, quite literally, thousands and thousands of street musicians out there right now playing for change who can sing better than Glen Hansard. Thousands! However, a lot of people fall in love with an image, and they turn their ears off when they're feeling sentimental. This is unfortunate, because I detest seeing people get praise and money and swollen egos when they don't deserve any of it (please think of the band Plain White Tees for a second). I would never have thought of reviewing this CD if I hadn't have remembered how many laughs I got from friends after the movie came out and I mimicked Mr. Hansard's howling croonage. Then it won an Academy Award (??!?!?!???) and people began purchasing this album. Ugghh. Listen before you buy (it's free).  Written on March 16, 2008 Summary: Once upon a time This is a great soundtrack, from the little movie that could. The track Falling Slowly won the Academy Award for best song in 2007 and it is a vindication for all those musicians out there who are playing their music in their bedrooms and basements...playing from the heart and believing the dream. Written on March 12, 2008 Summary: "Once" there was a great CD It's a real pleasure to find for Once music in its purest state. It is also so uncommon these days to find a CD in which you don't have to be skipping tracks to get to the ones you like. In this case I always listen to 13 songs out of 15 and that's a lot to say. The extra DVD is also interesting to learn the story about the making of the movie and the origin of the songs. I highly recomend this record. I love these guys! Written on March 6, 2008 Summary: a sweet wonderful movie A sweet little independent film, one of the best of 2007. In a year of not so good movies, this little sleeper stands alone.
