Professional Review:
The original Alice Cooper band was one of the finest hard-rock units of the early '70s, which is why the second disc of this remastered version of Billion Dollar Babies is such a treat. Eleven bonus tracks from the band's 1973 tour display the Cooper band's taste for pop-culture--and a sense of humor, as Alice quotes from Don McLean's "American Pie" on a wonderful version of "I'm Eighteen," while the band delivers a ripping "Theme from Perry Mason" during an extended workout of "Unfinished Sweet." Rounded out with session outtakes, the second disc will have fans praying that Rhino unearths more live material. As for Billion Dollar Babies itself, it may not be the Cooper band's best album, but it was the final release of a quartet of extraordinary Bob Ezrin-produced hard-rock records (rounded out by Love It to Death, Killer, and School's Out), and it captures the moment when the band was at their peak. Including three hit singles in "Hello Hooray," "Elected," and "No More Mr. Nice Guy," the album--from Donovan's exciting cameo on the title track to the closing "I Love the Dead" (probably the prettiest ode to necrophilia ever recorded)--still sounds terrific. And the packaging, production, music, and imagery has inspired followers as diverse as the Sex Pistols, Marilyn Manson, and Hole. --Bill Holdship

Summary: Three Greats in a Row, for Alice!
A more polished Alice Cooper appears on 1973's Billion Dollar Babies, but still a very classic sounding Alice, with a traditional rock feel (albeit with a very warped Alice treatment). The songs have a lot of character, which is more than you can say about a lot of music out there, and there's a fair amount of variety in the styles that the band uses on this album. While not as strong in its songwriting as either Love It to Death or Killer, this remains a testament to Alice's overall abilities and the scope of the band's talents.

Summary: Perfect For So Many Occasions!!!!!!!!!!

There are some Albums that are so original that there is nothing that can be compared. Billion Dollar Babies is just such an album. This is undoubtedly the best Alice Cooper Album of them all.

Once way back in the day of the `Love Drug' I thought I pulled a beautiful girl only to find, once I got her back to my apartment, that she was visually challenging. I closed the shutters on all the windows and put the needle of the turntable on `I Love The Dead'. She left of her own accord by the second verse.

What a great record. Thank You Alice.

The live stuff is great too.

Summary: Alice's trick here was weak songwriting
Alice Cooper is known as one of the most disgusting rock performers in the history of mankind, not to mention an extremely influential one. For some reason, the Billion Dollar Babies album is really tame and uninteresting to me. Alice Cooper's take on the glam rock/commercial rock genre is a really boring one, in my opinion. Most of these songs feature guitar riffs that are only sort of interesting, and commercial rock tracks that serve mostly as filler instead of having any real interesting qualities about them. Not to mention an embarrassing ballad near the end of the album that makes me wonder what kind of music fan this album was intended for. Oh sure, the title song was a big hit, but he's certainly no Deep Purple or Wishbone Ash.

One song after another, it's just normal commercial rock that anyone could have created just to make a quick buck. Alice Cooper is more talented than that. I guess people who don't really like the whole shocking nightmare gimmick of Alice Cooper would like this album, and older folks. "Elected" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy" are the only good songs, and that's hard to believe, because I'm the kind of person who usually HATES the songs that receive constant radio play.

For me, there's more interesting Alice Cooper albums out there such as the Killer and Muscle of Love albums. That's where the creativity lies.

Summary: It's still the real band BUT....
This is top 40 AC Band and they do a fine job of it especially when compared to their mainstream peers of the era. Critics and fans alike love this album but I guess I'm not with the crowd on this one. It's great in its own right but if you're like me and like your Coop with more edge, forget this altogether. The songs are well written but everything is way too slick and to a point formulaic. Get Killer, Love it to Death, Easy Action or even the psychedelic masterpiece Pretties For You instead.

   Summary: Poor dvd audio sonicly
Although the album is good, the dvd audio expectation was well below par. Compared to other dvd audios this is edgy, bass is mushy and the surround mix is non existent.
