Not only does it provide a 24-hour timer for pre-set automatic brewing, but it also offers programmable automatic shutoff for setting the unit to turn off anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours after brewing. The coffeemaker's fast-brewing technology delivers hot, fully extracted and aromatic coffee. Removing the carafe pauses the brew cycle, which allows for pouring a cup midbrew. Its 54-ounce glass carafe provides a handy water-level indicator and a distinctive non-slip open-handle design for simple pouring. The unit's exclusive, filter basket-release button makes it simple to remove the basket and conveniently place it on the countertop for easy filling or cleaning. Other highlights include an LED digital clock and timer, a pilot light and preset brewing indicator, an integrated cord-storage compartment, and dishwasher-safe parts for quick cleanup.  Written on November 4, 2008 Summary: Bad Coffee This purchase was very disappointing. Although it's attractive, it is designed in a strange way in regard to the basket and how it attachs to the rest of the product. No instructions about this and putting it together was a real headscratcher for a klutz like me. Unfortunately, it turned out to make rather bad coffee as well. If I want a decent cup of coffee,I'm afraid I will be forced to buy a replacement for this product. Written on October 31, 2008 Summary: Not bad -- just wish the coffee was hotter My wife and I love to wake up to hot coffee every morning. We used to own a Braun coffee maker with a timer, and it worked well for us for many years. When it finally bit the dust, we pulled out a Gevalia coffee maker that we got for free. We hated it, mainly because it was difficult to fill without splashing water over the kitchen counter, and the coffee just wasn't as hot as our old Braun. I did quite a bit of research online, and used the reviews from Amazon and Consumer Reports to decide which coffee maker to buy next. I settled on this one, mainly because I bought the scaled down version (without the timer) to use at work and it was easy to fill and clean. My wife and I do enjoy this one, but the coffee just isn't as hot as what came out of our old one. It is easy to use, and does a reasonably good job. Setting the timer is straightforward. The only other criticism I have is I wish it made 12 cups. Written on October 30, 2008 Summary: Braun KF590 Coffeemaker Our old Braun coffeemaker had died and I went out and bought a different brand maker which did not satisfy me at all; so I returned it and got this Braun with which I am very happy. Simply put, it makes good coffee and has features that are just about perfect for the family. Written on October 24, 2008 Summary: Repeat buyer Had to replace my original after 6 years, when it ultimately refused to heat [I suspect that hard, untreated water invites element failure, as it does in electric water heaters. I stopped replacing the outrageously expensive filters about mid-way through it's life]. I like this unit for it's overall quality, small footprint and noticably hotter coffee than the others I've tried. Actually paid less for the replacement than for the original [including shipping -which seemed a little high]  Written on October 20, 2008 Summary: Great value, great coffee Nothing fancy, just makes good coffee. Using it for an office; it makes several pots a day and is still going strong. In my opinion, cone filters just make better tasting coffee. The gold foil reusable filter basket is nice, but I still use paper filters to make clean-up easier. |
