Professional Review:
BRISINGR EXCLUSIVE: The audio edition of Brisingr features a revealing Q & A between best-selling author Christopher Paolini and editor Michelle Frey.

OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.

Following the colossal battle against the Empire’s warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

First is Eragon’s oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran’s beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix’s clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength—as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices— choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

   Summary: Fire+Book=Brisinge
Eragon finally gets the his own sword and one of the things Solembum said came true. Varden finally start moving again during the middle of the book to attack Empire. But the most interesting part i think was when Roran was sent on various missions to attack supply trains and stuff. I think Paolini described those very well. The part about Eragon's father was kind of obvious. I mean when you heard it from Murtagh that he was his brother well it didn't sound right. Also Paolini gives a hint about why Galbatorix is so strong and how he gets his power, but its only a hint. Later Oromis and Glaedr tell the whole thing. It sucked he had to make it into 4 books, but if he wouldn't do this the characters would still be freaking cardboards doing whatever Paolini told them too. But he developed them and made them into something we could believe

Summary: This is a great series!
I'm really enjoying the Eragon cycle. I think you can tell how Christopher Paolini has matured as a writer when you compare Eragon to Brisingr. The characters are well-thought-out and interesting. And as a woman, I find it very refreshing to read a fantasy novel that doesn't just have one great female character as the love interest. This series has so many amazing female characters! Brisingr doesn't have as much action or battle sequences as the previous two books but if you've read those, you'll enjoy learning more about the background of the characters and the mysteries behind Gallbatorix's powers that you find in Brisingr. I can't wait for the last book to come out!!!

Summary: about 600 pages too long
Well, my kudos to Chris Paolini for effort, certainly. But I have to agree with many other reviews I have read on this book--nothing much happens in it! I got to the end of this huge book (about 700 pages I think) and realized that everything that had happened probably should have happened in the first 100 pages. It was a good read--but Paolini, there is something to be said for brevity. Learn that, and you might have kept the reader's attention, and not had to write another book!
