Professional Review:
OATHS SWORN . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.

Following the colossal battle against the Empire’s warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

First is Eragon’s oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran’s beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix’s clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength—as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices— choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

   Summary: great but annoying
i thought brisingr was a fantastic book with a little bit of everything in it. i also felt that some things in the book were very annoying

1) Roran- has anyone else noticed rorans unrealistic strength when he cannot even use magic??? it annoys me to no end. is paolini trying to make him superman??? killing 200 man in one battle, winning an urgal in a wrestling match... it is ridiculous!!! i feel roran should not be able to use magic in the future or he will be TOO powerful!!!
2) Katrina- she is so insignificant in the story except in the beginning when she is saved! for some reason everyone thinks she is an enemy of the empire when she cant even DO anything!!!
3) Elva- she is a very big threat after she became ms. independent. i swear i was chanting to eragon: kill her! kill her! kill her! the whole time. she better prove useful in the 4th book or she should be destroyed.
4) Arya and Eragon- this is getting ridiculous! she doesnt like him but he is still in love with her! it is so frustrating! he really needs to let go of her, but i understand how he feels about there being no one that would be a good match for him because of his being a rider.

I really loved the Eldunari (sp?) i thought it was the perfect solution
i wish oromis didnt die but he knew he was walking to his death sentence anyway and he was very very old.

I thought alot about the whole Arya/eragon thing and i came up with a great solution. one day a lone woman is found running toward the varden camp. she is carrying a pack full with mysterious items. when she meets alone with nasuada, arya, saphira, and eragon she tells them her astonishing story. she is actually a 17 year old half elf, half human who lived in galbatorixs palace or whatever that is very skilled in magic and swordsmanship. she could even be galbatorixs secret duaghter or something! she would be the vardens secret weapon because she knows the palace very well and in her pack she has maps of the palace. i am not saying a romance would HAVE to blossom between eragon and her but i think that would be awesome!!! it would be cool if that actually happened in the 4th book

   Summary: Paolini can do better
If you are a patient person, this book is worth a read, especially if you liked the first two books. However, it becomes very apparent that Paolini's creative process is starting to diminish. I hope it is not forever, because I really think that Paolini has potential. Paolini is young, and I think this hurts him, as the insight he projects into the book feels borrowed; not his own. You all know of books that engage the reader to the point that the characters come alive and seem to act of their own will? This book struggles with that, and at times when I read the dialog, I loose sight of the character, and all I see is Paolini struggling in front of a word processor. In order to make the story enjoyable, I had to mentally edit the content and change words and phrasing so that the story came back to fruition. This book feels capitol, in that it was pushed for market too soon before it could naturally create itself. An author should never impose his will on the characters, he should allow them to thrive through his hand. This is the tell-tale of a good writer. Paolini has this potential, but if keeps succumbing to external pressure he will fade away as a good writer. I for one am not too critical because paolini was rushed into the spot light. It is hard to deal with success. Book three shows that Paolini is struggling. Future publications will tell if Paolini pulls out of it, because if he keeps writing books like this one, he will loose his audience.

I truly enjoyed the continued story and hope that there will be more books like these in the future. I dont have time to read so I am able to listen to the audiobook while I am traveling back and forth to work.

   Summary: Leadership
The third installment of Christopher Paolini's Inheritance series is titled, Brisingr, which means "fire." The hero Eragon begins to deepen his understanding of the leadership that is expected of him, and throughout this novel there are leaders who are elected, or ones who prove their worthiness to lead by succeeding in passing tests to that leadership. Paolini continues to do a fine job at creating a fantasy world that capitalizes on prior heroic tales and legends. One would think that he could have wrapped up the series in these new 763 pages, but this remains a transition book, leaving fans with time to kill until the next installment. Despite new revelations and maturation, Eragon, Sephira and the Inheritance series still have a ways to go before they face Galbatorix. Given the pleasure it is to read a fresh heroic novel in a classical style, I'm willing to wait and read on until Paolini has gotten out all that he wants to write.

   Summary: Brisingr
I recently read Brisingr and thought wonderfully of Christopher's way of bringing words together to form a beautifully woven Tapestry. Every word read brought me closer to the end an ever expanding story in the vividly painted world of Alagaesia. I have read many books, and many series, and although many of them have kept me on the edge of my chair none compare to the true emotion I felt from Christopher Paolini's magical way with words. It is the only book I have ever read that made me sweat, hold my breath, and even truly cry and it is for this and several other reasons, that I give Brisingr 5 stars.
