   Summary: Broken Arrow
What we have here is a revisionist effort toward the American Indian, nothing wrong with that. It's just stories & movies that have a moral to tell often don't come off. Stewart is good as is Jeff Chandler as Cochise, an honorable Indian, willing to make an effort at peace. Is it real compared to history? I really don't know. This movie was made to be a statement about the American Indian; he was an honorable man & he was pushed by the whites into fighting for their ancestral lands or to retain what little they had left. This movie portrays that scenario well but it doesn't make it a great one.

   Summary: One of my favorites
Yellow Butterfly

This is one of my favorite movies in the Western genre. Of course, James Stewart, along with Gary Cooper, is one of my all time favorite actors. I was deeply moved and impressed by this movie when I was a child. I've never forgotten it. It is definitely a movie to keep and watch over and over.

Sandra E. Waldron is the author of "Fusion: Sizzle", "Liebesträume", and "Violet Dawn", as well as a number of short stories in the Amazon Shorts section.

   Summary: A True Friend Indeed
The battle over the western frontier between the native inhabitants and the colonizing foreigners was handled poorly. The foreigners thought they could just take what they wanted, because to them this frontier was unsettled and belonged to no one. The natives didn't claim ownership to anything because of their beliefs until the foreigners invaded their way of life. Once the natives realized they had to fight to keep from becoming annihilated, the carnage, stealing, and killing on both sides became devastating.

Broken Arrow is a Hollywoodish account of two rational and honest men representing the two sides. Tom Jeffords (James Stewart) a mediator and Cochise (Jeff Chandler) an Apache Chief, came to a trustworthy and honest relationship. The U.S. Army wants to exploit this relationship to get a peace treaty signed. The local settlers are too wrapped up in their prejudices to believe Tom could even associate with Cochise and his people. The result of this hatred only means some will be the object of violent and murderous cruelty.

   Summary: JAMES STEWART!!! (Capitals intended).
A SUPER STAR in the true sense of the word, not today's watered down version where "mediocrity/imbecility" is the new genius ...far too often anyway; DEBRA PAGET; a stellar cast!! All that in a great western! What more can a guy want?
One final comment: MORE!!! Please!

   Summary: great classic western
Broken Arrow has wonderful movie elements. It has talented actors, bright clear color, a storyline based in truth, great scenery, and lots of western action. Classic movies are my favorites. Broken Arrow is a true western classic.
