Professional Review:
Tom Hanks introduces the rousing story of two inseparable friends and soldiers portrayed in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.

William "Wild Bill" Guarnere and Edward "Babe" Heffron were among the first paratroopers of the U.S. Army-members of an elite unit of the 101st Airborne Division called Easy Company. Arguably the bravest, most efficient, physically fit, and tight-knit group of soldiers the Army has ever produced, the unit was called upon for every high-risk operation of the war, including D-Day, Operation Market Garden in Holland, the Battle of the Bulge, and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden.

Both fought side-by-side-until Guarnere lost his leg in the Battle of the Bulge nd was sent home. Heffron went on to liberate concentration camps and rake Hitler's Eagle's Nest hideout. United by their experience, the two reconnected at the war's end and have been the best of friends ever since. Their story is a tribute to the lasting bond forged between comrades in arms-and to all those who fought for freedom.

Summary: Bill and Babe are an inspiration to all of us
In "Brothers in Battle, Best of Friends", Bill Guarnere and Babe Heffron not only tell us more in-depth stories of their Easy Company exploits but give us a true insight into the bonds formed in battle that most of the rest of us never experience let alone understand. Heffron and Guarnere grew up literally just blocks from each other on the tough streets of Depression era Philadelphia with the same strengths that would see them through the toughest of times during the Battle of the Bulge and the siege of Bastogne during the bitter Winter of 1944-45. We learn of the toughness ingrained into their generation and the street-wise attitudes that lent them the drive to be among the Army's best, the Parachute Infantry. That same savvy enabled them to continue to survive some of the toughest actions and conditions of WWII in the European Theater of Operations.

Bill was a tough sergeant, the prototypical inspirational leader of his men. Leading always by example, he not only lead them in combat but also looked after them like a doting father, especially when meeting Babe as Heffron joined Easy Company as a replacement at Aldbourne, the 506th Regt's. English home following Easy's Normandy exploits.

Robyn Post has done a marvelous job of compiling her interviews of these men not only humanizing each of their personalities but without adding her own to the mix.

If you are interested in first-person information on Easy's exploits in battle with the warmth and humor that only these two B of B can tell them, then please buy this book. Following a more than 60 year friendship forged in the toughest of times is educational, humorous and above all, inspirational.

   Summary: Excellent Brothers in Battle
Brother's In Battle by Bill Guarnere and Babe Heffron was an excellent book. It helped to explain so much of the background material that made up Band Of Brothers. It was so hard to put this book down.

   Summary: Excellent Book
There is not much to be said about this book other than that it is well written, easy to read and is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. Once I started reading I did not want to put it down and would recommend it to anyone interesting in this genre.

Summary: They speak to you from the pages
Bill and Babe now have voices that will always be there for us to hear anytime we pick up this book. Their joy of life, depth of humility, and tough courage would be an inspiration for any life, but their lives were truly extraordinary. The pages speak in their Philly accents and give us a chilling glimpse into some of the most courageous and horrific battles of the European theatre. Thanks, Robyn Post, for this great first-hand account!

   Summary: Thoroughly enjoyable read
I really enjoyed this book. Have read all the other BOB`s related books and this is a great and worthy addition.

Great insight into Wild Bill and Babe. Great characters, great fun.
At the current price you cannot loose however I would spend a lot more because it is worth it.

Looking forward now to reading Don Malarkey and Buck Comptons personal accounts due for release this month.
