Written on December 18, 2008 Summary: Fits LaCie Rugged Drive Perfectly, But Could Use Internal Padding This is a well-made, attractive little external HDD case that fits my LaCie Rugged External HDD almost like it was made for it. In fact, it fits a little too well, as there is not quite enough room for the FireWire cable that I usually use with the drive on my MacBook Pro. However, the cable I have is pretty stiff & thick, so getting another cable would resolve this problem. The exterior of the case is cordura-type nylon fabric over a semi-rigid (plastic, I assume) shell. Lining the inside, the fabric is softer & more tightly woven - almost like a micro-suede. There is an elastic band sewn into the bottom of the case to secure the drive with. And, for cable (or other small items) storage inside the case with the HDD, there is a mesh pocket sewn into the top of the case. My only complaint against this case is I feel it could use a little bit of padding on the inside to further cusion the drive in case of a drop, etc. Although this would be a trade-off in that additional padding would result in a bigger case externally with no added space inside, it seems just a little extra padding would make the case more protective without adding significantly to the case's external dimensions.  Written on December 12, 2008 Summary: Excellent case Have taken this case while travelling all over. Works well to protect your valuables against incidentally bangs and bruises. If your are looking for something that will protect your valuables while having a Hummer drive over it however, I recommend you look at Pelican cases. Written on December 12, 2008 Summary: Perfect hard drive case This is the perfect protection for our Iomega 320 and 500 GB portable hard drives. The cable fits in the case. It looks good and is very small. We have to ship our hard drives overseas and this works well for that too. Well designed and thought out and well made. I have the 500 gb and it fits great and definately does the job of protecting it plus has room for cables. Written on December 2, 2008 Summary: It's a case! Purchased to house an external WD drive. Very solid construction, with all corners quite rigid and durable. It would seem to take a fairly large amount of weight centered directly on top with the case laid perfectly flat to do any damage. Convenient interior pouch on one interior side for USB cable etc., with strap to secure hard drive on the other flap. Perfect for this type of application and recommended. |
