 Written on January 1, 2008 Summary: Love this movie My husband had never seen this movie, so I had to find it. Amazon has it all. My favorite part is Lee Marvin "singing Happy Birthday" at a funeral. Still funny this many years later Written on December 4, 2007 Summary: Cat Ballou - the Western as farce The story is simply a pure farce set in a Western mold, including rescuing the fair damsel from the villain and the hired gunfighter asassin. There is no moral message here, just riotous fun in a horse (oh, yes don't forget the horse!) opera. Written on November 11, 2007 Summary: Enjoyable! I had originally seen Cat Ballou many years ago and got the biggest kick out of it! I found it highly amusing and the acting great. The second time around, I still found it amusing but, for some reason, not to the same degree. It could well be that I have become more sophisticated over the years in my viewing of movies - and that's probably the only reason for me giving Cat Ballou 4 stars. It was still fun, but . . . Written on October 11, 2007 Summary: He missed the barn! One of the funnier movies of its time. This movie will certainly appeal to the older movie fan, though I am not sure those under forty will appreciate the genre. Still, after all these years, it still makes me laugh out loud. "Nuff said". Written on September 29, 2007 Summary: Cat Ballou One of the most enjoyable Western comedies out there. Lee Marvin's performances are a thing of beauty -- though his Kid Shelleen occasionally veers into the overly absurd. Jane Fonda is both poignant and very funny as the lead character who evolves from innocent young woman to criminal mastermind. Everyone is having a blast, but I also especially enjoyed Dwayne Hickman as Uncle Jed. And did you ever think you'd see Nat King Cole performing duets with Stubby Kaye? Well, this move has a lot of unexpected treats; I recommend it highly. |
