 Written on December 21, 2005 Summary: Good Songs But They Should Have Digitally Remastered Them! The Sound Is Just A Little Off! I too had the cassette tape of this Percy Faith Christmas album and updated to this CD and I love all of the songs and my favorite is We Need a Little Christmas. I do have one complaint and that is that the sound doesn't seem to have been remastered and seems kind of low. It's as though they didn't digitally remaster the original mono recordings.  Written on October 31, 2005 Summary: A Christmas Classic Percy Faith's "Christmas Is" was one of the 60s most popular and lasting holiday music releases (along with Andy Williams' "Christmas Album" and a few others) and was heard frequently in my family home back in the day. It has considerable nostalgia value for this listener but is much more than that -- the arrangements are well-done and vocals are lovely. And, rare for a pop Christmas collection, it's cheerful without being cheap and overly sweet. Written on December 22, 2004 Summary: A great collection My parents had this album originally on 8-track in the 70s. I later purchased the cassette version, and recently the CD version. This goes to prove the timelessness of this collection. It was a must for my collection as I upgraded to cassettes, and then to CDs. All the songs are very uplifting & really put you in the holiday spirit. I have to listen to it multiple times each Christmas season. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is perfect for either background music at a holiday party, or just sitting and listening (and singing along!). You definitely will not go wrong in purchasing this CD. Written on December 19, 2004 Summary: Christmas Is by Percy Faith I have listened to many Christmas songs but the title track "Christmas is" has all the meaning of Christmas in it's lyrics to me. It has been a tradidtion to play this album in our home every Christmas day for the last 40 years. Thank you Percy!! Happy Holidays To All Phil Winkelmann............Omaha, NE Written on October 8, 2004 Summary: A Nice Holiday Collection Percy Faith's Christmas music has become a fixture for many during the holiday season. His third Christmas recording, CHRISTMAS IS, differs greatly from his first two recordings, but like the earlier recordings has a popular appeal and has endured over the years. The arrangers of the tracks included in this collection demonstrate a creativity that gives each track a unique flair. This recording contains holiday music rather than traditional Christmas carols, and Faith uses his choir in a more prominent manner than his first two collections. There is a variety to the works included in the collection. The world of Broadway and film are represented with "We Need a Little Christmas" from MAME and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" from MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS. The old "Hit parade" is represented with classics such as "White Christmas," "The Christmas Song" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas." Other contemporary tracks include "The Little Drummer Boy," Do You Hear What I Hear?" as well as Faith's own "Christmas Is." The tracks have been widely played on the radio, and listeners will probably discover they know these tracks rather well. It is a very relaxing collection that is suitable as background music or a recording just to listen to while relaxing. |
