Read by David Birney

Winner of the Audie Award for Best Inspirational/Spiritual AudioBook for 1996

"The Christmas Tree is genuinely moving; and David Birney's sensitive and sympathetic reading does much to enhance the appeal of the winning contemporary fable."
--Los Angeles Daily News

Destined to become a Christmas classic, it is the magical tale of a little girl named Anna from New York City, who is orphaned and sent to live in a convent.  Lonely and unaccustomed to her new surroundings, Anna befriends a tiny fir tree.  "Tree" becomes Anna's best and most special friend.  They grow up together, unlocking the secrets of friendship as well as sharing the wonders of nature.  Indeed it is this profound appreciation and love of nature that Anna later, as Sister Anthony, passes on her adoring students.  When Tree is threatened by a cruel winter storm, Sister Anthony, now an old woman, decides finally to give up her dearest friend -- allowing him to become what is perhaps the most enjoyed and famous Christmas tree of all.

   Summary: The Christmas Tree
This is one of my favorite books. This and the Christmas Box. I have read both and I have the video of The Christmas Box. I also saw a movie on TV that was The Christmas Tree which is based on the book. However, I cannot find the video in the any of the department stores or video stores. I know I saw it and would love to add it to my collection. Please help me if you know where I can get it. Thanks, Frances M.

Summary: A Charming, Well-written and Illustrated Fictional Story
I really enjoyed this book which I found on our local library shelf, and intend to buy a copy for myself. It would make an excellent gift.

It is a gem. Charming, well-told story. Beautiful, pastel-colored illustrations that greatly add to the charm.

I once worked in the old Time-Life Building in Rockefeller Center, New York City, and looked down on the Christmas Tree eight years running, but I would have enjoyed this book if I had never seen the The Tree from on high and at ground level.

   Summary: The Christmas Tree
I thought the book was a sentamental flick. It's a good quick book. I guess it was nice and interesting. Not quite boring but then again not the action-packed book. It was a heart warming story. Any age would like it, but it's most effective if you read it around Christmas Time.

   Summary: Heart warming
A truly beautiful book. It should be made into a film. It is a short book but packed with such emotion and warmth that I didn't want to finish it. It should be a Christmas classic. Beautiful written from a male point of view written by a female writer. The illustrator deserves praise for enhancing the feeling of the book. Congratulations to both.

   Summary: A wonderful little book!
Just finished reading this, and it is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read! It tells of such warmth and loving, even when there may be sadness around us.
