 Written on June 12, 2008 Summary: Perfect experience I saw the show in May. I decided to see the show first then decide whether the CD is worth it. And I was the first to rush to the couter to buy the CD after the show. I personally think the music is simply perfect. Sierra Boggess demonstrate the most beautiful soprano voice I have ever heard. I am glad I bought the CD because when I saw the show somehow her voice is a little low when singing "Part of Your World", Sherie Rene Scott was the primary reason when I decided to see the show in the first place and her songs blew me away. Her voice is powerful and penetrating. Other casts did an amazing job too. And all the new songs added to the show are very good. I especially love "If Only". This song is very a very moving quartet song. Some kind of music that brings you to tears. So I think this CD is definitely worth it, for all that love The Little Mermaid. Written on June 9, 2008 Summary: I am Part of Her World. I absolutely love this soundtrack. I saw the musical in New York in early April and fell in love. I was a little skeptical because I am such a huge fan of the Disney movies, but the play blew me out of the water! :) I had to have the soundtrack, so I bought it ASAP. The singers are incredibly talented. The soundtrack may be a little hard to follow if you have not seen the Broadway show, because the plot is changed a little to accomidate for the stage. I would definitely recommend it for any Disney fan. Written on May 31, 2008 Summary: Great CD If you saw the play then you'll love the cd...it's got all the music with all the wonderful grooves!  Written on May 23, 2008 Summary: Beauty and the beast under the sea Yes the Disney organisation have done it again from their formula factory. Bringing the music from the animated film to the stage. A somewhat predictable score to the stage such that you can hear the formula work as if Beauty and Beast had been dragged under the ocean. This show is great for kids don't get me wrong and I hope it runs for many many years on Broadway and maybe London. We may even get to see in Australia. BUT..Unlike the Lion King and Tarzan which both really stepped out onto the stage with a true wide appeal and an innovatively staged musical style that could appeal to everyone, I think the The Little Mermaid is more in a formula that one would expect in the electric light parade at Disneyland. Even though there are a huge number of new songs written for the stage production, they feel very Disnofactory in their style. The one high point for me however is Shiree Rene Scott, who is deliciously camp and evil as Ursula (so often the case with disney women) that she really does steal the show and the music every night! I still don't quite get how she is supposed to be related to her brother Tritan..kinda just misses me completely! The voices are great, and as usual, Disney is able to gather the cream of the crop when it comes to vocal talent and of course stunningly good looking men and women at the same time. Take your little girls to see the show. They will love it but its not musically challenging enough for adults I am afraid. Written on May 17, 2008 Summary: The Little Mermaid Original Broadway Cast I love this musical! I enjoyed the movie for the children, but the additions to the musical score are fabulous. I feel like a child again as I experience the adventure of the of Ariel, Scuttle, Flounder, Sebastian, Ursula and the entire cast of characters. The entire cast has such amazing voices, I immediately love the song they're singing. Ursula has such an incredible voice I wonder why she wants Ariels, but I know it's part of the story line. I appreciate the talents of Howard Ashman, Alan Menken and Glenn Slater with the creative music; what a joy! I love how they have expanded the story in music. I'm sold! For the young at heart, children and musical lovers in general, this is one musical you want to have in your collection! |
