Written on January 29, 2008 Summary: Beware lengthy shipping time! I have no problems with the Financial Times, but I purchased this as a gift with the estimated delivery of 3-4 weeks, and delivery hasn't started -- 5 weeks later! The customer service line is an annoying automated system, and it tells me that my gift recipient won't be getting it for 2 more weeks! Arg.  Written on October 27, 2007 Summary: Financial Times Subscription Love this product, but I would have ordered it earlier if I knew it was going to take more than 4 weeks to begin shipment. Apparently, even though the information on Amazon's website indicated that it would take 2-4 weeks, when I called to follow-up when I didn't receive my first issue in 4 weeks, I was told that shipping would begin 2-10 (!) weeks from my order date. It ended up taking 4 weeks and days- not sure if that had anything to do with my call to customer service.  Written on October 25, 2007 Summary: Best macroeconomic, financial market news of major financial papers The FT offers extraordinary coverage of macroeconomics, financial markets and international economics and trade. Far better than the Wall Street Journal or Investors Daily. Its commentators and writers are top-notch. If macro, financial markets and international economics and markets are your interest this is the paper for you. Unlike the Wall Street Journal, very little coverage of mundane subjects such as impacts of tax changes on the restaurant business, U.S. political scene and Op-Eds such as those of Jerry Falwell demanding that "intelligent design" be taught in U.S. schools. Written on August 31, 2007 Summary: Pink With A 150 years Of Experience. For me this paper is a treat, the best aspects of "The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, & US News & World Report are all present here, without their defects. This is probably the best newspaper in the english speaking world. It never fails to inform, make one think deeply, & entertain. No this is not a celebrity shlock sheet. It truly covers the global news in detail with a wide range of perspectives. Tyler Brule & Lucy Kellaway write well, sometimes embarrassing their competitors & critics. "The Financial Times," is a London-based daily covering in depth international coverage of industry intelligence & financial markets. Its pink color makes it distinctive as to stand out. The main reason to buy this newspaper are the supplements covering the industries of more countries than one thought existed. This paper has experts who actually prove regularly that they have earned that appellation. As their advertising slogan states: "No financial Times, no comment." Written on August 6, 2007 Summary: 5 Stars for the FT, Zero stars for Amazon If you want to stay updated on world news, this is the paper to read. It features a well balanced mix between US news and international news. I let my subscription lapse recently due to a move and felt not being well informed anymore. However, please be advised that it takes at least 7 weeks for the first issue to arrive, not 2 to 4 weeks like stated by Amazon. Amazon customer service was extremely unhelpful when asked about this issue. They referred to their magazine customer service by Synapse - who never responded to my inquiry regarding the delivery issue. Very disappointing! |
