Summary: The truth of history through logic...
After being TOLD all my life what happened throughout history by poeple with, in many cases, other motives and general ignorance, it is a breath of fresh air to be proven to what really happened. Myths, misconceptions and in some cases blatent lies have been repeated so many times that they have became fact. It is well past due that an author such as Moustafa Gadalla, with the tools of logic, proof and heritage would come and clean up the foggy view of history and give credit where it is trully due. I strongly recomend this book to anyone who wants to know the truth.

   Summary: Very En-Lightening
Coming from a Southern Baptist background, I was constantly bathed with rigid recitings from the KJV. This book aroused old suspicions and yielded new insight to the past. The author did not progress beyond his evidence and, from my view, did not try to impose a selfish theory upon the reader. I thoroughly enjoyed & recommend this book.

 Rating 3   Written on July 12, 1999
   Summary: a readable book
The author ventures to provide a brief historical summary of Ancient Egypt. This is accomplished through five short easy-to-read chapters (one entirely devoted to Ancient Egypt and the Bible), drawing upon both modern and ancient sources. Simple religious terms and beliefs are elaborated. Aspects of Ancient Egyptian life explored include the pharaohs, their technology, art, literature, and society. The ideas invoked here are outside the mainstream of Egyptology conventionality.

 Rating 3   Written on July 9, 1999
   Summary: worth reading
A well organized, facile approach to egyptology. A must read for anyone not too familiar with the world of ancient egypt. I only wish that he could have given the religious texts of other cultures the same objective and enlightened treatment that he had with egyptian texts, instead of a rather shaky inculturated understanding. Still, the ideas in this book are clear, perspicacious, and fascinating, if a bit radical. A lot of information in a relatively easy read.

Summary: If this book were a fish, I'd throw it back
I recently bought this book, and I wish I hadn't. The author seems to have noble goals, but I can't say that his arguments are convincing. I could not honestly recommend this book to others.
