   Summary: Poetic, Brilliant, Masterful
It's time for me to thank Judy Collins. Actually, the gratitude is way overdue. JUDITH was originally released when I was 15. I was hooked on it for many years, and am again hooked on it as an adult. On the 1 to 5 star scale, this album really deserves a six! The lyrics, the arrangements and the voice combine to create a poetic delight. My favorite Judy Collins penned song from this album is "Houses." The choices in tracks not written by Judy Collins are fantastic, particularly Webb's "The Moon's a Harsh Mistress." This is an album to play over and over. Put the CD in your machine and hit the repeat button. Thank you Judy.

   Summary: FLAWLESS ..... AS USUAL!
Again, Judy's done it! I might be a bit ... late ... in conveying my sentiments, but this is definitely one of Judy's best albums! The highlights of this album that first come to mind are "Angel Spread Your Wings" and, of course, "Send In The Clowns." Her singing is beautiful and the arrangements are stunning!

Summary: One of those I can play over and over
If I want to let my imagination or memory roam free I put on this cd along with Dan Fogelberg's "Innocent Age" and I am set for the day.

   Summary: Judy's Last Classic.
JUDITH is one of the best albums Judy Collins ever made. It contains "Send in the Clowns", one of her biggest hits and certainly the definitive cover of that much-covered song. Even Streisand couldn't top it on her later Broadway Album. JUDITH also contains "The Moon's a Harsh Mistress", a great Jimmy Webb song that has been covered by Joan Baez and Linda Ronstadt, among others, but none as lovely as Judy's beautiful version. Several other covers, such as "City of New Orleans" and the Jagger-Richards song "Salt of the Earth", also show Judy to be the fine interpreter that she is. Her own excellent compositions, "Houses", "Song for Duke" and especially "Born to the Breed", a song she wrote about her teenage son, all add up to make JUDITH one of Judy's best lp's, her last classic album to date.

Summary: One of those heady albums...
This is one of those albums that transports you back to the time you first heard it. The years rolled away when I listened to this, and it was summer 1975 again. 'Houses' has to be one of this artists most beautiful songs; I might not know exactly what she means, but, by God, the words bring a lump to my throat. Her version of 'City of New Orleans' isn't Willie Nelson's, but doesn't pretend to be, I suppose. An essential album for me, then, and one that takes a jaded, world-weary 40 something back to easier, brighter, sunnier days before the world turned sourer.
