Summary: Disappointed I bought the Motorola MOTOROKR T505 for use with a basic external (Jabra) Bluetooth transceiver and my Nokia 8890 cell phone. I wound up returning the MOTOROKR, for the following reasons. 1) I found the quality of the speaker to be awful -- very tinny, difficult to understand when driving. 2) The FM transmitter "times out" after a short period of time. I found the pairing process easy. I found the volume to be excellent. I found the quality of the voice using the FM transmitter was excellent, but I found it unacceptable that the FM transmitter times out. I intended to use the MOTOROKR with the FM transmitter; I intended to be listening to my car stereo using another FM channel or CD, then tune to the channel the MOTOROKR was using when I received a call. No such luck. In addition to the FM transmitter timing out, I also found that, when the FM transmitter was engaged and I was receiving an incoming call, the ring tone was not broadcast by the speaker in the T505 (remember, I would be listening to another FM station when a call would come in); the only ring was from my phone itself (not very loud). So, my intended mode of use was not practical with the T505. I don't know if all of these shortcomings would still occur if my phone itself had a built-in Bluetooth transceiver, but it doesn't, and I like my phone just fine. Summary: IF LEGAL, I WOULD MARRY THE MOTOROLA T 505!!!!!! 2 WATTS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE - DON'T BE A CHEAPO, SPEND THE MONEY. goal: the loudest bluetooth speaker phone on the market. the best of the best. i hate head sets. i want my ears to bleed. *****if loud is what you want, read on.***** 1. i have owned the 1/one watt motorola T 305 for 2 years. it was not loud enough for me, so i never liked or used it. with the new cell law in california, i wanted a hands free bluetooth speaker phone to make my ears bleed with LOUD, CLEAR, QUALITY volume, especially for freeway speeds. why? when i have my a/c on full blast, the radio on full blast, my windows are down when i smoke, even in the rain. even when not smoking i have my windows down. i want volume and to hear it ring. i do not want crappy low volume bluetooth speaker phones, period. yes, when i use it, i do roll my windows up, but I WANT TO HEAR IT RING. 2. the T 305 may be called many things on amazon, but a motorola T 305 is a motorola T 305. the boxes may have changed, but that is all. the T 505 is called many different things on amazon, but a T 505 is a T 505. 3. that said, the T 305 has only a small, weak 1 watt speaker, possibly good for a cat or bat - i am neither in my current life. 4. the T 305 is ok for quiet people, people who do not have air conditioning on the highest fan speed, people who rarely use or do not have air conditioning, people who do not smoke, people who never roll their window down, do not have kids, never use the radio, never have passangers, or people who like to drive at posted speed limits. if this is you, the 1/one watt T 305 is for you. read no further. save the few dollars and get the motorola T 305. you will like the 1/one watt speaker and be happy. 5. the motorola T 505 has a 2/two watt speaker, enough to make my ears bleed which is what i wanted, my goal. 6. TRUST ME, 2 WATTS IS MORE THAN LOUD ENOUGH - THE T 505 QUALITY/LOUDNESS IS MORE THAN JUST DOUBLE THE 1 WATT; 2 WATTS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. i do not know why, but 2 watts is exponentially louder than just 1 watt. 2 WATTS WILL WAKE THE DEAD, if that is what you want. 7. back on track, i bought the jabra sp5050, WHICH DOES NOT COME WITH A HOME CHARGER - NO JOKE! jabra's customer service was super, super cool. they even said they were adding a home charger soon and even sent me a free one! 8. motorola's customer service, after you dial 23 prompts, is worthless, regardless of which continent you get sent to. an a+ to jabra's customer service. f- to motorola's. 9. my experience just a few weeks ago was when i charged the jabra sp5050 (in my car since it did not have a home charger), right out of the box. i first loved the cool, stealth design, BUT that is all. i literally did a side by side comparison of the jabra sp5050 compared to my T 305 on my visor, had my partner call me from inside my home, and the jabra sp5050 was so bad i would throw it away EVEN IF IT WAS FREE OR GIVEN TO ME AS A GIFT. the jabra went back in 2 hours! 10. spend the little extra, get the motorola T 505. worth the money, calls can come in over a unused/weak fm frequency. since i am not a terrorist, i don't care if anyone can pick it up my stupid calls next to me in case they are listening to an unused fm frequency. i would NOT recommend calling a credit card company, however. 11. even if you do not need the T 505 to make your ears bleed or scare you if you are deep in thought, the broadcasting feature of the incoming voice over an unused fm frequency is really cool. it is so smart, it tells you what fm station to pick; or, you do not have to use the fm feature. 12. fyi, the speaker volume is adjustable so you are not scared by the loud ringing, and if you do not want your ears to bleed. 13. I AM NOT GOING TO GET INTO ENGINEERING SPECIFICS. I WILL SAY IT IS 95% PERFECT, AN EXCELLENT SOUND, AND EASY TO USE. THESE WERE MY GOALS. the mororola t 505 is a full throttle V8 engine, for sure. 13. if legal, i would marry the motorola t 505. 2 WATTS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE. TRY IT AND PROVE IT TO YOURSELF, NO NEED TO TAKE MY WORD. RETURN IT IF YOU DO NOT LIKE IT.... Summary: Works well; easy to use; minor niggles Pros - works well and is easy to use. It takes a couple of days to get used to the buttons but after that's it's fine. Broadcasts to FM radio - a useful feature although the built-in speaker is fine. I haven't complaints from callers about voice quality so it must be OK. Music from phone to T505 to FM radio works OK - I haven't used it much myself because of the difficulty in getting a completely interference-free FM station in my area. This is not a criticism of the unit - just local conditions. The volume is weak too - have to turn the radio well up, which increases background hiss and interference. Cons - lack of an external charger. This is just plain cheap-skating and why I didn't give it 5 stars. You have to plug the unit into the car power socket to charge which means it has to be placed in the cup holder or on the passenger's seat. It takes a long time to charge; it's unusable while charging. Summary: It works; but wished for a better FM freq control This unit works well for what it is. It pairs easily with my cell phones. Music sounds OK since it is an FM transmitter. I wished it allows a manual control of changing the FM frequency. With this unit you are at the mercy of the electronics inside to find you a good signal. Summary: Disapointed I'm returning the product. after 15 days of testing I cannot hear voice or music clearly. I always get FM noise in the back. I tried several stations (it tries all the time to override exisitng stations, not clear ones), several car stereos and even home stereos. The only way it works well is standing the T505 just besides a home stereo. I also tried setting the radio signal to Local ( to avoid low intensity radios). The funny thing is that the radio does not stop searching when it goes over the T505 radio signal. it's not strong enough, I have to put it manually. |
