| Marc Anthony comes on like a suave, less jumpy alternative to Ricky Martin on this mostly English-language album. Having already introduced itself to the pop mainstream with the salsa-tinged single "I Need to Know," Marc Anthony offers several other obvious crossover hits, ranging from the Rodney Jerkins-produced Latin-funk fusion of "She's Been Good to Me" to the lovelorn midtempo ballad "When I Dream at Night." However, Anthony's agreeably keening voice is too often applied to the sort of colorless adult-contemporary material typical of Michael Bolton and Mariah Carey mainstay Walter Afansieff, who produces or coproduces three tracks here. The result is often more interesting in sociological terms--Anthony fans who, like the star, were born to Latino parents in America are as sure to eat this disc up as his new Caucasian admirers--than in musical ones.  Written on February 23, 2006 Summary: What a fabulous album I'm not going to say too much other than ...WOW ... what a fabulous album - this is one that you can jut belt out anywhere - I love it Written on August 27, 2005 Summary: Love that Anthony! Marc Anthony sings with so much love and passion that it's hard to stop listening once you play this CD. I really like his music a lot. Every word is meaningful and intuned with such deep feelings. The way he sings about love makes me want to fall in love. This is another great album of his! Written on June 7, 2005 Summary: He has a great voice, personality It seems that even if he is singing english songs versions,he does not seem to get the the honours he deserves............ When it comes to look and sexiness - Ricky Martin rocks; when it comes to guitar - Santana and Eric Clapton reign; when it comes to dancing - MJ still sets the standard; when it comes to singing, I really have a hard time thinking of another male vocalist who can sing better than Marc. Most of the songs in this album had nothing to shout about, but Marc Anthony just make them sounds 10 times better. He sang with all his heart, his soul, his energy. Singing is about skill and talent, and you cannot deny that this guy has both. My personal favourite songs are: (1) My baby You (2) How could I (3) That's Okay (4) Don't let me leave Written on May 5, 2005 Summary: The Ultimate Vocalist Not a lot of people can sing and touch your heart. Not a lot of people can sing and make you hear them. Not a lot of people sing with the music so harmoniously. Marc Anthony is not one of those people. He is able to do this and more in his English album debut. His songs are flawless and timeless. His voice is crisp and you can feel it from the heart whenever he recites the lyrics. There are a great melee of songs and I have to say all of them have their own identity and tone. Miraculously, I Need to Know and You Sang to Me, which were the singles released are not even the greatest in this bag of gems. Songs like Love is All and Remember Me, stand out. The Spanish music blends with his voice in great harmony. In all, this is a solid classic album that stands out even though it's nearly been 6 years since its release. Unfortunately, none of today's musicians can sing and choose their music as this great Latin entertainer. |
