| Marc Anthony comes on like a suave, less jumpy alternative to Ricky Martin on this mostly English-language album. Having already introduced itself to the pop mainstream with the salsa-tinged single "I Need to Know," Marc Anthony offers several other obvious crossover hits, ranging from the Rodney Jerkins-produced Latin-funk fusion of "She's Been Good to Me" to the lovelorn midtempo ballad "When I Dream at Night." However, Anthony's agreeably keening voice is too often applied to the sort of colorless adult-contemporary material typical of Michael Bolton and Mariah Carey mainstay Walter Afansieff, who produces or coproduces three tracks here. The result is often more interesting in sociological terms--Anthony fans who, like the star, were born to Latino parents in America are as sure to eat this disc up as his new Caucasian admirers--than in musical ones.  Written on April 16, 2004 Summary: Great selection, Lousy Recording Marc Anthony's voice is great, the rhythmn of the music is great, but whoever was responsible for collaborating the music with the voice did a very poor job. At times you have to be stretching your ears to hear Anthony's sexy, mellow voice. The musice tends to drown his voice, even his back-up singers are more audible than he is. It's as if he was on one continent with an ampliphier trying to reach the rest of his band on another continent. Did they listen to this cd before releasing it? I hope they re-do it with all the same pieces but with a better mixture of voice to instruments.  Written on February 25, 2004 Summary: to my marc athony marc anthony this is one of the best cd i heard from you yet. this prove you have talent and you are willing to share with all of us. i will continue to buy,listen to your albums for as long as you keep singing and giving us your voice to hear. i feel proud that i can look up to a spanish person with joy in my heart and know that when i put a cd on everything is ok. so keep up the good work marc anthony you are and always will be the best.@~~~)~~~ god bless u marc Written on December 11, 2003 Summary: marc anthony ''best musician ever'' hi i think this c.d. is awsome marc is not only the hottest guy around his music is the hottest around!! marc is in my oppinion is the best in the music industries. his music is so heart filled and he works hard . it is physically impossible to listen to his music and be sitting down.your always dancing wile listening to his music.and if you dont your listening to the wrong guy.AND THIS C.D. When I heard "I need to know", I just couldn't believe that was sang by him, because before this album, Marc Anthony used to sing Salsa music and I didn't like his music because I dislike salsa very much. So I didn't buy the album because I thought that it was going to be; 1 good song and the rest, salsa. But then I heard "You sang to to me" and I decided to buy it because a found that song very, very good. This, his first English album was a hit in the U.S and Europe. Reaching Platinum status in the U.S and it also had 2 Top 20 singles ("I need to know" and "You sang to me"). Marc Anthony's voice is good and his rhythms are very good and as I said, I don't like salsa but he gives his music a twist of salsa, but actually in a soft way and that mix happends to be very good. His music can be pop or dance but he does it very good. I would've rated this album with 5 stars but I find difficult to believe that his music company didn't add the spanish version of "You sang to me". Written on January 12, 2003 Summary: Best of the best - a must have! This is the best album i've ever owned. The songs are filled with emotions and are very intense. The Ballads reveal stories that anyone can associate with while the Latin rhythms just make me want to get moving. His fabulous voice and the powerful yet sensitive words combined together, make this cd unforgetable - i can't help but feel the emotions in his songs and everyone i lended the cd to felt the same way.i would recommend it to anyone in a relationship who would like to share a good cd. I don't regret buying it ... the more i listen to it the more i get addicted to it. Every single song in this album is great... |
