After creating a gadget/fashion icon in the original MOTORAZR, Motorola has upped the ante with the new RAZR2 V9 with cutting edge technology and enhanced features that make it even easier to use. Offered via AT&T, the RAZR2 V9 offers super-fast downloads and multimedia streaming via AT&T's 3G HSDPA/UMTS network. It's fully loaded with an arsenal of digital tools, including a 2-megapixel camera/camcorder, Bluetooth connectivity for streaming music and photo printing, MicroSD memory card expansion, dual color LCD screens, e-mail access, digital audio player, and full duplex speakerphone. And speaking of cutting edge, the phone's stainless steel internal frame and cast aluminum housing support makes the RAZR2 V9 stronger and more durable than its predecessor.
The RAZR2 V9 can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses HSDPA/UMTS technology (High Speed Downlink Packet Access/Universal Mobile Telephone System), making it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless services with speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. It also gives AT&T the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services. In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including video and music clips, full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and email on the go. With 3G connectivity, you'll be able to access AT&T's Cellular Video (CV) service and the Internet while on the go. Cellular Video features content from CNN, The Weather Channel, iFilm, Comedy Central and exclusive premium content from HBO and much more. It also features AT&T Mobile Music, which provides access to the Napster subscription music as well as Music ID song-recognition software, music videos and The Buzz music news portal. The handset is MobiTV and XM Radio Mobile-capable, so you can enjoy streaming live TV and digital radio all in one device. (A MEdia Max subscription bundle is recommended for accessing AT&T's Internet, video, and music services.) With its quad-band connectivity, this phone communicates over GSM/GPRS networks and AT&T offers voice roaming in more than 190 countries and data roaming in more than 130 countries. Phone Features
The 2-megapixel camera includes an 8x digital zoom and it can automatically snap up to eight new pictures--letting you choose the best image from a complete series of pictures. You can even print photos wirelessly to a Bluetooth-compatible printer with just a few menu selections. It provides four resolution choices (from 320 x 240 to 1600 x 1200 pixels) and also features a self-timer, free memory space indicator, color effects, night mode for low-light shots, and five shutter sounds (with a silent mode). The RAZR2 V9 is also an impressive video camcorder, providing up to QCIF resolution (176 x 144 pixels). It also gives you the option of choosing the video format, which offers different frame rates--25 fps for MPEG and H263 and 15 fps for WMV and Real. You can record video for as long as you have available space on your MicroSD memory card.
This phone provides Bluetooth version 2.0 wireless connectivity with EDR (enhanced data rate), and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server. The RAZR2 V9 features a full HTML browser (Opera 8.5) that takes advantage of high-speed wireless data connections for faster, bigger and richer web surfing experience. Built-in e-mail functionality (POP/IMAP/SMTP) combined with MobileSync software provides easy, PC-like access to both personal and corporate e-mail accounts and calendars. Other features include:

Summary: In spite of those negative reviews...... I read many reviews of the Moto RAZR2 v9 before purchase, including the negatives. Conclusion: Positive -I like this phone for many reasons. Negative - It is not an Iphone! Positive: It looks great, sound is fine, display is big and clear, with 2 Gig microSIM, holds plenty of music. Cool that it uses voice dialing of names without recording the names so my whole phone list is available to voice dial. The calendar is much improved over RAZR allowing comment section to include contact info. Unlike other negative reviews, I find the battery is working just fine, listening to hours of music. If you want to listen to music you must buy a stereo headset with microphone - when a call comes in, it pauses the music, receives the call, resumes music on hang up. Since music was a major reason I got this, I like the menus for making playlists, using the front touch screen to pause, fast forward/reverse. Personal taste, I like the color a lot. The photo online is ugly, the phone is beautiful. No choice of color but Oh Well! Negative: give up on hearing bass tones with the cheap headset with microphone (otherwise callers can't hear you!) Interface software: I already had this software and it is a must!!! Software does not come with the RAZR2. Phone comes with adapters to plug in better headset and larger size connectors like from old RAZR, but these adapters are bulky and not reasonable to carry around sticking out of the side of the phone. Well I got the phone free thru Amazon with 450 minutes from ATT so I can't complain. Much better than RAZR, but RAZR2v9 can not compete with Iphone. That is comparing brilliant with genius. Summary: Real Bad Phone with Good Looks. I ordered this phone just lookin at pics and returned it back immediately after using for sometime. I thought it would be better than RAZR V3. I dont know from which material Motorola has manufactured this phone, it weighs a ton. RAZR2 V9 being a flip phone is very big compared to a straight phone like Blackberry Pearl. The features are also not so good. Summary: Great phone Pro: * Very solid feeling, on a little bit heavy side, though I like it. * Screen is very bright and clear * Very fast, I believe it's due to the 500MHz process, vs. the 250 something for the Razr2 V9m (Verizon) * Calling quality is great, if it works. :) * 3G is fast, though this is a gift, or a curse, it drains the battery MUCH faster than without 3G * Picture quality under bright day light is pretty good * Bluetooth works well, and voice recognition also works well, you can simply say the number and it will dial it for you. Con: * If use 3G, then battery runs out a day or so, daily charge is required. * The menu buttons for CV and MediaNet are not configurable, it's a ATT phone, so nothing to do with Motorola on this one, though still, wish it's configurable right out of box rather than need to heck it. * Out side screen cannot show picture slide or video without hecking the phone first, only for music All in all, for this much money, I would say get one if you are looking for a phone. Summary: Chinese Junk - Falls Apart - Motorola refuses to warranty The jack where the power cord connects in fell out while I was looking at the phone....unbelievable! Wasted 3 addl weeks dealing with Motorola's warranty people...who wanted it sent in for repairs...only to receive it back today saying not repairable and no warranty as this is "Physical Damage"... Dunh?! Of course it is physical damage...the phone fell apart because it is crap quality. I will tell all I know of Motorola's poor products and failure to stand behind a warranty. I paid $95 plus gave a 2 year commitment to att/cingular on this.... AVOID MOTOROLA - Summary: No complains I had my eyes on this one ever since it came out! And I must say, now that I own it for myself, I still love it just the same! The colour is even better up close than it appears on websites, and the super-slim shape is just amazing! It takes great pictures and videos too, better than pictures (and videos) I've seen taken with many other cell phones. I love the keypad too, and you can connect it to your computer to upload pictures/wallpapers without any trouble at all. Simply put I love everything about my phone and I couldn't be happier to have purchased it! :) Of course this isn't for you if you're looking for the iPhone! I will recommend buying this one only to those who loved the old RAZR but would love even more a greatly upgraded, slimmer, shinier and uniquely coloured version! |
