 Written on January 7, 2008 Summary: Childhood revisited Watching the Mr. Magoo Show DVD Collection brings back plenty of childhood memories. My only complaint is that collection does not contain the Magoo Christmas story (remake of A Christmas Carol). Service and quality of item were excellent.  Written on July 22, 2007 Summary: PC edits has this going back! After reading some reviews of this set before opening the box, I decided with the other reviewer that I wont sponser editing classic shows such as this for the political correctness of the day. Lost sale for Sony! What a farse. Written on June 22, 2007 Summary: Mr. Magoo is ruined! Why did somebody have to go and change Charlie's voice in some of the cartoons in this set? His new voice makes him sound like an English butler, which is completely ridiculous, considering Charlie is Chinese! The original voice of Charlie made the cartoons even funnier, and now with this voice overdub, much of the humor is lost. Everything has to be censored and politically correct these days, and I'm sick of it! Why tamper with a classic like Mr. Magoo?  Written on June 13, 2007 Summary: Mr. Magoo Is As Good As I Remember I loved this cartoon as a child. The silly and innocent humor are as great as I remembered them to be. The DVD combines many hours of fun & enjoyment onto a single source. Written on May 13, 2007 Summary: Mr. Magoo, the 1960-62 seasons. My first complaint is, the DVD set took two years to be released. I heard talk about it, I read review after review, but, no DVDs. Then, on all the discs, on each opening credit, I keep seeing 1960 in roman numerals, what's up with that? This DVD set, from the very beginning was advertised as 1964-65. This is the whole 1960-62 syndicated season on the 4 DVDs? My guess is yes. It'll be great if they can release the "Famous Adventures Of Mr. Magoo" 1964-65. As for the voice over on Charlie, it seems to be original on some of them, and not on all of the episodes. The new voice-overs make Charlie pronounce words almost perfectly, that's not realistic. Keep in mind, it's a cartoon, it was the 60s. This should have been in it's original form. All that said, I think it's better than nothing. Most of it is original and intact, such as original music and the other character voice-overs. I say buy it for the original parts. |
