 Written on October 18, 2007 Summary: A loverly device sent from the Gods themselves - Nintendo!! It took me a while to acquire one: I asked for it, Christmas 2004, but was sadly disappointed when my cousin didn't come through (he was supposed to go half on one with my mom for Christmas. Guess he got wet feet!!). Anyway, Christmas 2005 rolled around, and I don't even think I asked for one that year. But I got this one! The Electric blue version, and was very shocked, but also a bit disappointed. I wanted it, but at the same time, I didn't. But once I discovered Pictochat again, I was seriously hooked on this thing. And you don't wanna know how much I played Mario Kart DS once I got the hang of that! It was OK, at first, but didn't feel like the Mario Kart that I once loved. And the graphics weren't as good as I had hoped. But I kept both anyway, and grew to love them, even moreso, Mario Kart DS! I eventually went on to buy Feel The Magic, Magical Starsign and Puyo Pop Fever, the latter is the only one that I play once in a while. I do need new games though because I'm rather bored with the 4 that I own. Overall, this system is THE handheld to own. You can get a DS Lite if you want, but I like my "bulky" electric blue DS just fine. Even though it looks purple! lol... This was money well spent! 4.5 stars.  Written on October 8, 2007 Summary: Old tech, buy a Lite Don't be a cheap fool, buy a new Lite. The screen is brighter, doesn't come with scratches (like a used one will most likely have), and it actually fits in your pocket. Written on August 5, 2007 Summary: Not very sturdy. My son loves the DS but within a few months it was dropped and now it is broke at the hinges so the top screen is hanging by wires. It seems a little less sturdy than the Gameboy advance and DS lite. Written on July 17, 2007 Summary: GET A DS BECAUSE THEY ROCK!!!!!! ....or: the tale of two ds-es the nintendo ds is an awesome game console. it plays games and allows you to chat with friends. it will play both ds games AND game boy advance games. i have a silver ds. i don't have a lite, but the original is a prize for me considering how much effort i put into getting one with a five dollar allowance. i would have got one with my own allowance, but instead, on christmas day a few years ago(i think two years) BEHOLD!!!!! A SHINY, BEAUTIFUL, SILVER NINTENDO DS EMERGED FROM THE CAMOFLAGE OF IT'S CHRISTMAS PAPER WRAPPINGS AND WAS MINE!!!! MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!!! my saintly parents had bestown upon me the silver beauty that is the nintendo ds! and since then it has been a commonly used device. i play it all the time! and one year later, last christmas, an electric blue ds was bestown upon my little brother.... but that's another story. i would also like to tell you about pictochat. you use the stylus to type or draw pictures. i also found you can drag and drop letters. just pick any letter, number, or symbol, tap it and hold onto it and drag it to where you want it. if you go to the system settings place you can choose 1. a color. whatever color you choose will be the color of your pictochat window. 2.a username. your name will show in the top left corner of your window and any messages you send. 3. a phrase. you can type in a phrase, and in pictochat you tap your name and the phrase will appear. at the top of your screen, your friends' names will appear. tap their names to see their phrases. ds to ds pictochat has a very short range, as does all the ds to ds activities i've done on games like animal crossing (buy it) and nintendogs (also buy it). from that i know ds to ds is short range. i have never done wi-fi, but supposedly you can play with anyone around the globe. anyway, there's a lot more good stuff to know but it would make my review really really long, so in conclusion... GET A NINTENDO DS!!!!! (OR A LITE, IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER TO ME!!!!!) |
