The reasons Motorola made this cord was because all the manufacturers are going to a universal plug size. Expect to see much more micro usb in the future.

Summary: Great Mini to Micto USB adapter with USB Host mode support
Most older devices and cables were for the Mini USB, and then suddenly there are a few new devices with Micro USB ports and it made it difficult to have a corresponding cable - one at home, one at office and one to carry around in your bag (if you are mobile). Thats where this adapter comes in handy

With My Nokia N810 IT, which has a micro USB port, I can now connect the Mini USB cable from the Nokia N800, or my blackberry cable, or other similar devices using this adapter in between. I always keep this adapter cable handy with the N810, so that I can use any standard Mini USB cable to plug into my Nokia device and get Mass Storage support, as well as USB Host mode on it.

Very nifty and cheap, which makes it indispensible to me.

Also as a USB charger to the Nokia N810, get Nokia N800 miniSync Retractable Sync and Charge Cable and this along with the Mini to Micro adapter can help you charge the Nokia N810 (or similar devices) thru USB port (instead of wall charger). This is the setup I use at office, while at home I use the wall charger. Very convenient.

Unlike the other reviewer, I didn't find the cable stiff or anything, it does bend sufficiently to work at angles.

Summary: Does what you need it to do
Perfect for charging phone from various USB sources. Note: For Vista machine, I had to download and install drivers from Motorola site first to get charging to work. No instructions for this. Just had to try it, & it worked.
