 Written on September 6, 2006 Summary: More Great Nightwish! My intro to nightwish was the Once album. I was blown away and wanted to hear more from them so I bought Oceanborn and Wishmaster. From what I heard and read these 3 albums are their best. I am not disappointed in the least. All 3 of these albums are definitely worth buying if you like the operatic metal style. Tarja Turunen's voice soars. Thank you Nightwish, for making some kick a** beautiful music! Written on September 4, 2006 Summary: Immaculate...classic Nightwish Nightwish is one of a handful of metal bands that I listen to. I was fortunate to see the band live before the dismissal of Tarja earlier this year. One of my favorite Nightwish albums is "Oceanborn", the band's second album. Their first album felt more like a demo than an actual album. Here on "Oceanborn", the band cleans up on the production. The sound is cleaner but without sounding overly polished. The combination of opera and metal is a match made in heaven. The aggressive guitar riffs compliments Tarja's gorgeous soprano vocals. Neither one overwhelms the other. Every single song on the album is excellent. Not a single dud on this album. "Oceanborn" is about the perfect symphonic metal album for anyone who wants to check out Nightwish. Written on August 11, 2006 Summary: Great release I could never give any Nightwish album less than a perfect five stars. This was an awesome cd by them. I love every track on here, and listen to it constantly. I am glad to have it in my collection. I love the concept of opera singing being incorporated into metal. They are one of the most talented bands I've ever heard. Written on August 7, 2006 Summary: Oceanborn review This is "Nightwish's" best offering. If you are experimenting in this genre, this is the CD to get! There is diversity and variety, but within the realm of the genre. Tarja's vocals are amazing as usual, but listen to the band itself...They are incredible musicians! Whoever replaces Tarja, will have big shoes to fill, and I wish "Nightwish" all the best of luck! Written on June 7, 2006 Summary: Operatic Metal At It's FINEST Nightwish's style of power metal and speed metal with symphonic tones, synths, and operatic singing blends perfectly into this album! This is my favorite Nightwish album, and I think it is probably their best work! Tarja Turunen's voice can be really dreamy, operatic (duh) and has got that fantasy-like vocal as well - I can see this thing be put into the power metal genre with symphonic arrangements. Nightwish has really got me turned on into extreme symphonic styles of metal! check these guys out! |
