Summary: One Of The Best Albums Ever Created
I can honestly say that October Rust is Type O Negative's most dynamic work. It explores lust, pain and the spiritual without being too focused on just one of those elements and displays the full talent and range of Type O Negative. A must have for any goth/industrial rock fan!

Summary: Type O Negative Paints a Marvelous Portrait.
You either love this album or you hate it. It's an American band -but they're pretty decent, unlike all the other crap bands america spits out every day. The album was designed to make the listeners experience Autumn and Winter in an audio environment rather than a physical environment - and its done rather succesfully. From the album booklet filled with pictures of leafless trees to the haunting and sometimes serene atmosphere the band paints with their instruments, this is the best audio interpretation of an autumn potrait I have heard (or seen).

The album kicks off with a joke and intro from the band members introducing themselves (a bit unconventional but not a major). The first song of the album is one of the greatest love songs ever written - "Love You to Death," and sets the mood and tempo for the album straight away. At this point I must add that if you have a low tolerance for unorthodox lyrics about women, be warned. The songs concludes with Steele asking "Am I good enough for you?", and wraps up an awesome love song.

Another track worth mentioning is "Red Water", in which Christmas is introduced through none other than jingling bells mixed with Steele's haunting voice and incredibly odd-sounding guitar (I think he cranks the chorus up really high - this can be found throughout the album). A song that you can fall asleep to, but not get bored by (if that makes sense).

"My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" is one of my favorite songs to drive down the highway with. its very catchy and one of the songs cemented into their live set. One of the shorter songs on the album and is guaranteed to give you a laugh or two.

"Wolf Moon" is essential to the collection of melodic metal fans. I can't describe this song in any way, other than telling you if you haven't heard this you are missing out on something great: Easily the best Type O song in existence.

I conclude that this album is outstanding - far better than any other Type O albums. The atmosphere, the shifts from highs to lows, the spine-chilling voice, the synth and other elements are arranged to give a listening experience that is truly unique.

   Summary: October Rust
This album is by far Type O Negative's best. While some reviewers and fans claimed that it was also their "sell-out" album, due to both the shorter song lengths (in comparison to earlier albums) and the cutesy intro and "goodbye" tracks, this album is the most lyrical and displays the most appreciation of, shall we say, "the human spirit" of all of their albums.

While it may seem ridiculous to claim that any Type O Negative album shows any kind of positive spirit at all, it is definitely precisely that which makes this - in my opinion - the great album that it is. The album (which, for greater appreciation, must be listened to in its entirety at least once) focuses on the connection between man's spirit and the physical world. It has a very "Wiccan" feel to it, and draws heavily on classical mythology (from references to Bacchus all the way to the Green Man).

It is definitely worth a listen.

   Summary: Dark, brooding, and beautiful...
Imagine walking through the woods on a cold autumn day. The sky is grey, the ground is draped in orange and gold leaves, and the mist covers everything, creating an eerie stillness and quiet. To some people, it seems miserable - to others, it's beautiful. For the people that appreciate those types of days, "October Rust" could cut through the silence perfectly.

While songs such as "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend" or a cover of "Cinnamon Girl" have a definite upbeat, tongue-in-cheek feel to them, the majority of the songs have a "haunting" sound, with Peter Steele's resonant voice nicely complimented by distorted guitars, organs, and pounding drums.

Where most love songs talk about the bright, shiny aspects of falling in love, lead singer Peter Steele nearly laments over it, but never regrets it. The songs "Haunted," and "Wolfmoon" both have the same type of feel to them, telling of love so strong that it nearly consumes those involved. But by far, the best song on this album is "Love You to Death." For anyone who has worshipped and adored someone so completely, only to know that you'll never have that feeling returned - this song will tear your still-beating heart out and set it on fire in front of you...and you'll love it.
