Summary: External noises The product works fine for hearing conversations, however, persons listening to my end of conversation complain of external noises coming through the phone call. I would need to spend more money for product that has noise abatement qualities in order to solve this problem. Summary: Really bad static if more than two feet from the receiver I bought this Explorer 330, because I was so happy with the Plantronics Voyager 510. No two products could be more different in quality. True, this headset is much more sleek and modern-looking (the 510 does look a little like a hearing-aid), but it had a great range of at least 15 to 20 feet. This is not AT ALL the case with the 330. You will need to wear it on the same side of your body as your phone if you do not want to deal with unbearable voice distrotion and static. It defeats the purpose of a bluetooth headset. I will be returning mine and sticking with the 510. Summary: Awesome Headset Only flaw i can think of is the fact that i forget to turn it off most of the time. Therefore battery runs out after i wake up in the morning! Good headset though Summary: Awesome...espscially for the price. I bought this blue tooth headset for use with the iPhone without knowing whether or not it would work...stupid, I know, but it DOES. Anyhow, this is the 2nd headset I've owned and this is much better than the last. It's lightweight, good looking, and best of all, it fits snugly without being obtrusive. I haven't had it long enough to really test how well it holds a charge, but so far it seems solid. I think it's a pretty good value. Summary: Not bad for the price! I bought this item a while ago and I have had several months to use it, at least 7 months. I thought about this and believe it would be best to explain my review in the most direct way possible. If you are looking for a headset, than like myself you are not sure what to look for. I have broken down my review into the following areas: Ease of Use, Length of Battery, Quality of Sound. Ease of Use (5 out of 5) This device is simple, you turn it on and put it on. The ear piece is a little uncomfortable at first, but eventually I got used to it. There is a volume control on the ear piece. I set this at maximum and that way I could control the volume from the phone. The button on the side of the phone is not very easily used to adjust the volume. I just set it and forget about it. The ear support can be easily adjusted so that it can rest on either the right or the left ear. Length of Battery (4 out of 5) The actual length of the battery is not bad. I get a pretty good run on a single charge, but I am not on the phone constantly. I do use the phone several times a day and on occasion for over an hour at a time. My biggest complaint about the battery is that there really is no indication that your battery will be run out until it is about to run out. There is a slight beeping tone that happens in the ear piece and blocks out the person talking on the other side when they are talking. There is also a read light that will flash on the side of the phone. Both of these are indicators that the phone is about to shut off from the battery. The only problem is that I typically don't see them until the phone is pretty much done. It often will go out on me during a call. Once the phone starts beeping it does not have very long after this before it shuts off. As for charging, this can be done easily at home with the wall charger included with the phone. However, you are stuck to charge your head piece at home unless you purchase a separate car charger. As often as the ear piece goes out, I think that the wall charger is sufficient. I typically have to charge this ear piece one time per week, never more than twice (ever). Quality of Sound (2 out of 5) I understand that the average of these three categories does not equate to a rating of 3 out of 5, but I have a hard time hearing and this category is the most important to me. If you buy this ear piece expect to have crackling, popping, static, and other noises. This ear piece gives me static and noise if I hold my phone in very close proximity to the ear piece. I have not been able to determine the cause of this poor quality. Some moments are better than others. I have noticed that anything blocking the phone, to include your hand holding the phone, can cause a drop in quality. If you have a belt pouch, or holster for your phone, keep it on the same side of the body as the ear piece. The odd thing about this ear piece is that I can be sitting nothing going on and have terrible sound quality one day. On another day I can walk several feet (even meters) from the phone and still have good quality. I have not been able to determine if the quality is related to the battery level, because there is no way to tell how much battery life is left. This is my biggest disappointment with this headset. It has actually pushed me to the point of considering buying a different one. This is why I rated this headset an overall rating of 3 out of 5. If the sound quality was a little better and there was less interference I might have been able to rate it much higher. I hope that this helps anyone considering this headset. |
