 Written on January 21, 2007 Summary: Ppkemon Season 1 I was so excited to find this on amazon. My son has collected Pokemon since he was two. His is now 13 and, while he no longer plays with the items, he loves the collection. He really wanted the original season on CD in order to complete the collection from his "childhood." While I don't know if he will actually watch them, to see the satisfaction on his face when he got them was wonderful! Written on December 27, 2006 Summary: THIS DVD SET IS THE BEST!!!! A truly great set for the ultimate collector and novice pokemon fan, its amazing to see how the whole phenomenom began. From Ash getting his first pokemon, Pikachu, to many other starters like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. An exceptionally memorable episode is the one where Ash sets his Butterfree free. This set is a must have and I'm so glad I own it!!! Written on December 18, 2006 Summary: "Beauty and the Beach" episode not included This is the first box set that has been released for Season One of Pokemon. This collector's set is indeed only the 4kids American dub with no second Japanese version. It contains three discs; each in a nice hard case that slide into one cardboard sleeve. The artwork on the box and each individual case is nicely done. The set contains the first 26 episodes of season one. Note though, that this is not the entire first season as the American version contains 78 episodes (80 in Japan). This means, according to my calculations, that two more box sets would need to be released (each containing 26 more episodes) to complete the season. Also, be aware that the episode, "Beauty and the Beach," is not in its rightful slot and is not part of this set. Even though it was first banned during season one, it was later played as "the lost episode of Pokemon" during the Orange Islands season (though heavily edited). It is not clear why the episode was not reinserted back into this season, as that would make logical sense. The menus are decent but nothing spectacular. When it comes to scenes selection, each episode is divided into only two parts. The first, being before the commercial break, and the second, coming after the break. The video quality looks pretty good. After comparing the color of episode one from this set to the version originally released on DVD with just three episodes, I found that the colors were slightly brighter or vivid in this version than the other. Overall, this is the best edition of season one that there is to date. It's worth the purchase if you do not mind the American version. Hopefully, they will release the rest of season one very shortly. I rate this product 4 out of 5 stars because it does not contain the episode "Beauty and the Beach." Written on December 18, 2006 Summary: My thoughts Well, I don't wish to go back over what many have already stated. But I would like to sum up the basics of this to save you the trouble of reading the lengthy reviews. It's great to see these episodes. No special features. Only the english tracks. Banned episodes are not here ether. Plus it only covers 26 episodes of the season. So I suspect another set will fallow. Only by this if you want to see these episodes and nothing more. I am still happy I bought this. Written on December 11, 2006 Summary: Things to Think About For those who don't know, THERE ARE 82 EPISODES IN THE INDIGO LEAGUE. Because this box set only has 26 episodes, that means if more box sets are released, there will have to be 2 more. This is only 1/3 of the season. Recently I saw the ORIGINAL box art of this dvd set, and instead of having just a "1" in the corner, it said "Season 1". Many people are thinking that the one in the corner means that this is volume one of the indigo league box sets, but really it just means season 1. If another indigo league box set would be released, the entire box layout AND name would have to change. Unfortunately for us, the dvd manufacturing people are lazy and probably won't go to all of the trouble. Sadly, I say that is will be the only Indigo League box set. =( |
