 Written on September 20, 2008 Summary: Glass is always safer to store food in Yes, I know Pyrex can shatter and burst. But many others, including me, have never had any problems with Pyrex. I just make sure not to subject it to extreme temperatures, and from cold to very hot, or very cold to very hot, etc. Glass is the best thing you can store your food in, if you don't want to worry about PVC from Cling wrap, or BPA, along with other chemicals leeching from plastics into your food. I don't really use these containers to bake in, but I do use them to freeze food, and primarily refrigerate food. Written on September 20, 2008 Summary: Pyrex Storage Sets I have recieved a Pyrex Storage Set as a gift. This product I would highly recommend. I have used mine on an almost constant basis without any damage to them, which is quite amazing considering I am rather clumsy with dishes and have two little kids! The product is very durable and can be used by anyone. I have even used them in the microwave and oven without any negative results. The only downside is I can not use the lids in the microwave or oven, but this is only a minor nusiance compared to some other plastic containers I have used which even though claimed to be microwave safe still melted. I would highly recommend this product for anyone that is on the go and needs a high quality storage product. Like I said earlier I got this product as a gift and have not had to replace any of it in over three years that I have had this one. Excellent product and very easy to use! Written on September 13, 2008 Summary: good quality great set of glass bowls with tight-fitting lids. i haven't used them much yet, but so far they seem sturdy. the different sizes are handy and the lids are very snug so you don't have to worry about spills. Written on September 12, 2008 Summary: good product So far so good. The glass container is nice to have because it doesn't get warped in the dishwasher. I wash the lids by hand to make them last longer. Written on September 11, 2008 Summary: Great Set We have made the switch from plastic containers to glass because of staining, odors and safety concerns with plastics. This is the second set of Pyrex glass storage containers that I have purchased. They are wonderful. You can store in them, place in the microwave or the oven. There are only a couple of things that I would change: 1) They get very hot in the oven or microwave and can be difficult to remove and it would help if they had handles on their sides. That is why I rated them 4 stars and not 5 stars. 2) They really need some larger sizes in their sets. This is a nice set though, I really love the rectangle ones. They are great for storing meats and for cooking mini lasagnas. I recommend highly. Watch for these to go on sale, they do often. |
