Professional Review:
Pier Paolo Pasolini s notorious final film, Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, has been called nauseating, shocking, depraved, pornographic . . . it s also a masterpiece. The controversial poet, novelist, and filmmaker s transposition of the Marquis de Sade s 18th-century opus of torture and degradation to 1944 Fascist Italy remains one of the most passionately debated films of all time, a thought-provoking inquiry into the political, social, and sexual dynamics that define the world we live in.

   Summary: Plain or peanut?
The title of this review is what I was thinking, when I witnessed the "Feast". LOL But seriously, I have seen some of the most controversial films ever made. This ranks up there with the best of them. (Or the worst, depending on your point of view) It probably surpasses most, in shock value. Made in the 70s, it still has high shock value, even by today's standards. This movie helps me to better understand why they locked up the Marquis de Sade. If there wasn't so much gay stuff in this unintentional comedy, I may have given it 5 stars.

The movie is definitely not for everybody...read allot of reviews, and then decide for yourself.

   Summary: lol
I thought it was funny as hell (but I'm weird). Too much gay stuff in this movie though. Definitely surprising.i would give it 4 stars because it can hold anyone's attention but there is too much male nudity so i give it 3.

   Summary: horrifying/appalling/nauseating
I ordered DVD based on review in major weekly magazine...i am not thin-skinned, overly sensitive, or prudish but i could not make it even half way thru this movie.

Movie contains graphic scenes of extremely deviant sexual behavior and abuse.

   Summary: this is truly bizarre
All i can say is that this movie is for very few people and i can definitly see why it was banned. It's degrading and i can't say i like to see nazis smile with feces on their mouths. I can't say i like watching someone get raped or have their manlihood burned with a candle. However i did find this movie oddly compelling and you truly feel bad for these kids who have been put through every humiliating act possible. Everyone has always heard stories of the downright evil things nazis have done to jews or whoever, but in my in my opinion it has never been put so brutally on film.

Summary: I thought I had seen it all....
A friend of mine purchased this just about the same time that I had purchased CC's Vampyr, so we traded. He filled me in and I read the reviews. He also mentioned that I should read the enclosed book before watching. So, I gahtered up my nerve to see what the fuss was all about and so I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I was in for. I wasn't even close. A movie is for "entertainment" purposes...right? I truly wonder how anyone could enjoy this movie. I personally thought that this was terrible on so many levels. I won't even do it justice by explaining why. Oh, and by the way, don't leave this lying around the house with your other "Criterion Collection" DVDs. If your kids other significant other finds this trash, you'll wish you had been caught with the Vivid Video year in review. Buy Vampyr instead...
