| One of the brightest nuggets from Disney's golden age, this 1937 film is almost dizzying in its meticulous construction of an enchanted world, with scores of major and minor characters (including fauna and fowl), each with a distinct identity. When you watch Snow White's intricate, graceful movements of fingers, arms, and head all in one shot, it is not the technical brilliance of Disney's artists that leaps out at you, but the very spirit of her engaging, girl-woman character. When the wicked queen's poisoned apple turns from killer green to rose red, the effect of knowing something so beautiful can be so terrible is absolutely elemental, so pure it forces one to surrender to the horror of it. Based on the Grimm fairy tale, Snow White is probably the best family film ever to deal, in mythic terms, with the psychological foundation for growing up. It's a crowning achievement and should not be missed. --Tom Keogh |

 Written on September 18, 2008 Summary: Classic This movie is such a classic. Once they go back into the vault, they are very difficult to get a hold of. I am not sure if everyone knows how Disney releases (places back into the vault) and re-releases videos. But, this is a must have in a line of many classic Disney films.  Written on September 15, 2008 Summary: Snow White DVD never recieved I ordered a DVD, Snow White, from Amazon and it was supposed to be delivered by September 3, 2008. The product was supposed to be shipped by a company called Beachhut. The DVD never arrived. I tried contacting Beachhut via Email. They would not respond. I have asked Amazon.Com for a refund via your A to Z guarantee. I am waiting for the refund. I can better comment on how well I like Amazon when the refund arrives. Written on September 8, 2008 Summary: no show The item ordered was never received and the seller has not responded to e mails as to its status - I will be cancelling the order and making sure I do not order from this supplier again - Written on September 5, 2008 Summary: Snow White My daughter was thrilled to get this video so quickly! Also, it was in excellent condition. Thanks! Written on September 1, 2008 Summary: late and scratched I was very disappointed with this Amazon shopping experience. Not only did this video take weeks to arrive, and then only after contacting the seller, it was damaged. My daughter couldn't wait to see Snow White and unfortunately the scratched DVD skipped 5 minutes into the movie. I am so disappointed and upset that I spent 35 dollars for a movie we will never see! |
