 Written on March 17, 2002 Summary: I love IT This album has a good mixture of music like classical, pop, rap,and others that I cannot think of. God bless Written on March 6, 2002 Summary: Dark soundtrack works perfectly here Most of these Star Trek feature film soundtracks begin with a vibrant presentation of the Star Trek overture. This one, however, starts off with an eery cello melody, which is sooned joined by a full orchestra. But the music remains dark and foreboding for almost the entirety of the album (with a few exceptions, such as "Clear All Moorings," "Dining on Ashes," "Sign Off," and of course the "Star Trek VI Suite"). Besides the standard orchestral instrumentation, there are also some experiments with more exotic instruments, as in "Rura Penthe" and "Escape from Rura Penthe." Overall, I found the music to be sufficiently intense and varied to keep the listener's interest for the forty-five-minute duration of the album Written on January 6, 2002 Summary: Not quite 'undiscovered', but definitely underrated Although Jerry Goldsmith & James Horner's Star Trek movie tunes are more widely recognized, Cliff Eidelman's score & incidental pieces for `The Undiscovered Country' still remains my all-time fave collection of Trek-flick tunage. From the overture that plays through the opening credits all the way to the sign-off & closing credits suite, this underrated composer/conductor's music adds just the right touch to the movie's atmosphere and action. The music is very operatic, which turns out to be an apt style for the `space opera' subgenre of sci-fi that Star Trek has been placed in (and pioneered). Hopefully Paramount will see fit to line Eidelman up to compose soundtrack symphonies another Trek-flick one of these days! Until then... ...`Late Written on December 18, 2001 Summary: I Listen All The Time "STAR TREK VI: The Undiscovered Country" is one of my favorite Star Trek movies, and this soundtrack definitely fits the movie. I don't even have to watch the movie in order to enjoy this music, and I listen to it my car a lot! Written on September 3, 2001 Summary: The Undiscovered Country has an Undiscovered Soundtrack This is a great underrated soundtrack that contains a whole new sound, no Star Trek theme and no theme that is like it, it is a new and refreshing look at Star Trek but yet you still know that it is Star Trek material. |
