Professional Review:
John Williams' lovely and moving score for the sixth Star Wars film brings thirty years of collaborating on George Lucas’ beyond-popular intergalactic franchise to a close. (Is this really the end of Star Wars? Can’t Lucas and Williams work together on a prequel to these prequels? Let us hope so, and that Jar Jar Binks is nowhere near it.) As this music accompanies the most exciting Star Wars film in many a moon, the soundtrack itself is more fun, more evil, more nasty and bumpy. Many of the heroic, anthemic themes woven throughout Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith will necessarily be familiar to any fan of the series, from the "Imperial March" to the main theme. It’s remarkable how stirring the latter can be, no matter how many times you’ve heard it, and even for those who do not have all their money invested in S.W. memorabilia. There is a lot of new music here, and the lush, extensive range of both Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra is on display, most notably in the menacing, percolating "General Grievous" and the rousing "New Hope" end theme. --Mike McGonigal

Summary: The saga comes to a close on a great dramatic musical score.
First off I have to say I think John Williams is undoubtly the best soundtrack film composer of them all. John and George really make an unbeatable team. I own all but two of the Star Wars soundtracks, which will tell you how much of a fan I am. Ok lets get down to business. When I first picked this up, it was in no small part due to the fact I wanted to see the dvd that comes with it "Star Wars a musical jounrney" Hosted by none other than the emperor himself Ian Mcdiarmid. Which is great, but I was disappointed with the soundtrack. But with a few more listens, I have realized this is one of the best Star Wars soundtracks. The movie starts off with a battle scene, so the soundtrack starts off with great battle music. The cd then takes turns going between somber pieces, and more spirted ones, very nicely. I'd have to say my 3 favorite tracks are Battle of the heroes, Anakin's betrayal, and Anakin vs. obi-wan. But you can sink you teeth into pretty much every track here. And for those of you that love the original theme on new hope. The last track is that theme, but really expanded. Well that's pretty much it. The Revenge of the sith soundtrack has some beautifly crafted tragic themes to accompany a tragic and flawed movie. A little film review there!

   Summary: Rise, Lord Vader....
The final chapter in the Star Wars saga has drawn to a close. And without John Williams' fine score, it wouldn't have come out as well as it did. The score contains trace elements of the familiar themes we've known since Episode 4, such as the Force, Princess Leia's, Luke's, and the legendary 'Imperial March', Darth Vader's motif. Even the Emperor's motif appears here - the sinister, low brass & bassoon cue. Williams has an amazing talent for scoring to suit the events in the films he has written for, from 'Jaws' & 'Jaws 2' to 'Superman: The Movie', to this one. 'The Immolation' is quite chilling as it shows Anakin's horrifying defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan, and his wounds that will necessitate his transformation - which appears in track 14. Here, the operating room is viewed as Anakin ceases to exist & becomes the black-suited, heavy-breathing Darth Vader we have known since Episode 4. The only reason this score gets 4 stars is that some of the cues are missing.

   Summary: The rising of power!
The movie of Revenge Of The Sith teaches us a lesson that those who gain power are afraid to lose it. Remember, Anakin didn't kill the Jedi to serve Sidious, although Sidious was meant to believe just that. Had the Sith lord shrugged off the fact that from the start, he had manipulated Anakin and the war? No, he hadn't killed the Jedi in service to Sidious. Anakin had executed Palpatine's commands, because the Jedi would've been able to stand in the way of the decisions he and Padme would've needed to make, regarding the fate of the galaxy(...) beginning with the death of Sidious.

Oh, but on Mustafar, she had worked herself into a state over what he had done at the temple. So much so, that she hadn't heard a word he was saying. Instead, she had made up her mind that he had come to care more about power than he cared for her, as if one matters without the other! Then, the accursed Obi-wan had shown himself, interrupting before Anakin could explain fully that everything he had done in Palpatine's office and at the temple had all been for her sake. Had Obi-wan not arrived, Anakin would have persuaded Padme to understand. He would've made her understand. Why didn't she listen to him? Why didn't any of them listen to him?

This music is the perfect example of what I'm talking about, because in real life the same truth is in all who choose to follow the path to power, which include exterminating the weak to bring peace and order to the world. The song of "Anakin's Betrayal" tells us why the Jedi had to be brought down. The answer was because they were too set in their ways. Even if anakin had killed Sidious, the Jedi would've fought him to the bitter end. They also would've insisted on taking custidy of his, and Padme's child, for their offspring might have been powerful in the force indeed. If only the council members hadn't been so set in their ways, so deceived by their own pride, they would've grasped that the Jedi needed to be brought down. Like the republic itself. Their order had gone stale, self-serving, and corrupt.

The music of this album goes to show that if the council members had seen fit to reckognize his power, and have granted Anakin the status of Master, then he would've provided their continued existence, but to call him the chosen one only to hold him back? To lie to him, and expect him to lie for them? What did they imagine the outcome would be? Old fools!

This music from this film is great because it teaches the very thing that I've just mentioned. It also provides us the answer as to why the Jedi, discourage use of the dark side. The answer is, because they feared of losing the power they enjoyed. The Jedi were out to take over the republic in Star Wars, just like the Christians of the real world are out to take over the US government if they are not stopped. I know because I've seen the film, and read the book that this film is based on. The choral pieces on this soundtrack are good as well.

   Summary: Very Good... But.
To me, this score was very good, I mean I like it alot(not a word). However, the only big issue I have with it is A. If you watch the movie, you tend to notice that some of the score is change for the movie... I mean, It's good the way it is but, I just wish they would have kept it all there. B. Some tracks from the actual movie weren't in the score, and no I'm not talking about the Duel of Fates or anything like that, I mean to put it in an easier way, it's like they put 3/4 of the actual score on this album. Other than that I really like this score.

Summary: Darth Vader and his destruction of the Jedi Order-this is the Revenge of the Sith
I picked up the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack on the day it came out. I would be seeing the movie on the midnight release, so I wanted to have the score FIRST. This soundtrack has become my favorite CD of all time. The emotionally powerful score sets the heart-breaking tone of the film. Anakin's Betrayel has got to be one of, if not the most moving peice I've ever heard. I can see the images of the movie flashing through my head. It PERFECTLY encomposes the feel of the movie, a dark and gripping tragedy that had audiences all over the world weep for the Jedi and the rise of Darth Vader. Anakin's dark deeds is the peice which plays when Darth Vader is slaughtering every member of the Seperatist council in a furious storm of the dark side. This is Darth Vader at his worst, he is consumed by evil by the time A New Hope rolls around, but when Vader destroys the Jedi Order including murdering younglings, he is at his most powerful point in his life and his most viciously sick. Battle of the Heroes is instantly recognized as the theme of the third movie and one of the best of the saga, and I will say that Battle of the Heroes is beyond what I was anticipating for the score during the duel between Obi-Wan and Vader. Sometimes, this CD makes me tear up, just because of the raw power of John William's magnificant orchestration of the turning point and the darkest moment of the saga. This is a must have for any Star Wars fan and any fan of fantastic music.
