Professional Review:
Yell out ?fore!? with the friends and family while taking virtual swings in the Wii exclusive Super Swing Golf (SSG)! Taking full advantage of the unique Wii Remote, SSG lets players use their bodies to take actual golf swings while playing on vibrantly colored fantasy golf courses. You can choose from a wide variety of golfers to suit your personality, but it's up to you to put the ball in the cup.

Summary: Deep Korean Online game makes clunky Wii transition
Super Swing Golf is a weird amalgomation of elements that don't quite all come together. Based upon a Korean Massively Multiplayer Online golf game, it inherited a really, really long gameplay curve, is ridiculously difficult, and candy coated with a cutsey art style. And welded onto a Wiimote swing interface.

While the idea of playing golf with a wii controller is sound, by the 50th time you've swung the remote and wondered why your ball hooked sharply left you'll be wishing they spent a little more time on creating some sort of feedback to why your swing keeps failing. At least in real life you know that it's your fault. Here, they require you to mimmock the subtlties of a real-world golf swing in order to be successful, but don't actually let you know how to do that or even what that would be.

Despite accessible appearances, this game is actually ridiculously difficult. The initial learning curve is punishing, especially on your stroke. In real golf it can take years to get to the point where you're hitting par on every hole. In Super Swing Golf, you'd better be hitting part on every hole by your third opponent.

Like so many other games in its genre, this one is all about buying clothes. You need to get money to get clothes, to swing better, to get more money, etc. It's a viscious cycle that just keeps going. And with literally hundreds of items, and hundreds of tournaments, there are literall hundreds of hours of gameplay here. If you can get through the first five without throwing your wiimote out the window, that is.

This game is huge and deep, and I really wanted to like it more than I did. But with a hugely frustrating learning curve, it's just a glorified exercise in anger management. If you really want a wii golf game and have a lot of time to invest in one, you could do worse. However, this game in no way encompases the "fun and accessible" mantra that the Wii has made its popularity upon.

   Summary: clunky controls, dull gameplay
I generally love golf video games. I finished both versions of Outlaw Golf on the Xbox as well as Hot Shots Golf on the PSP. But this game was tedious and annoying. First the swing control was poor and imprecise. Then you had to sit and wait while the computer took its turn. Every other golf game on the planet allows you to skip this. I played 2 holes and gave up on this mess. This one's not even worth renting.

Summary: Needs work but fun for now
I am a golfer and so was super psyched to pick up this game. Although it has fallen short in some areas I have found it fun and would thus recommend it. 5 things worth mentioning:

1. The swing system is a little jarring and having to stop in your backswing to determine your strength gets old. Also the viewing of different angles and views takes way to long which in a short game is not bad but if you are playing for a while it really adds up.

2. The limitation of character selection until unlocked is annoying for a casual user (like myself) but the ability to buy outfits/new skills is cool.

3. The swing sensors are accurate though and being a golfer it is frustrating when you get lazy and by accident hook a shot (just like in the real sport). I have found however that for chipping and putting using just one arm is more accurate. For friends who don't play golf, the button controls work fine (and are necessary because the game is not too forgiving) but kind of negate the reason this game is fun.

4. The courses are pretty but they get more and more gimmicky the more you unlock them i.e. you have to hit ontop of a battle ship to get to the green or go through a tunnel to get extra pangya. I don't really like this feature because it is not natural (I get that that is the point) and it takes several playings of a course to figure it out (this would only bother a real golfer)

5. As some one mentioned before, the wind guage is pretty cool and just like in real life can be very deceiving. Other cool features are the shot selections (power hook/fade etc.) which as the courses get more difficult are vital

In summary, if you like golf then you have obviously gotten bored with wii golf (and realized you don't actually need to swing) and this is a fun game. It rewards good shotmaking and is difficult enough to hold your attention. As with all wii games it is pretty expensive so if that is an issue I would hold off for now. I for one begged for a wii for Christmas (I am 25, kind of sad I know) just so I could play golf so this was and is a must have for me.

   Summary: Okay
This game is okay, but nothing special. I believe they could have worked on the interface a bit more. Clicking on the screen and then swinging the remote everytime gets to a person after a while. And, the characters could have been a bit more original. Oh and when I started to see scrolling text I was set back a bit... I really expected to hear the characters speaking. I thought voice overs had become common in sports games...?

Well now that my rant is over there are some good points to the game. For one, the game is a bit more real then wii golf when it comes to wind. The wind is not constantly what you see before you hit it. If you're behind a tree it might show little or no wind because the tree is blocking it, but once the ball is hit into the open the wind will still have a affect on the ball.

Summary: Wii sports: Golf's disabled cousin
Another review said that the nicest thing they can say is that this game is better than Wii sports golf. I can't even say that. It has more depth that the Wii sports game, but generally is not as good.
This game is loaded with features, though you would never know that when you start the game. You unlock EVERYTHING, of course that also means that when you start the game you have nothing. You start with ONE playable character. (Hey, at least start us out with like 2 people to pick from.) After a round you get points and with those points you can buy clothing, people, etc... The clothing system is great. Many items give your attributes an increase, so it can be a bit like an RPG where you have the gloves of +1 accuracy.
Also, if you have enough Pangya (I have no idea if I am correctly using that phrase) you get to choose from special shots. However those shots are not as good as a normal shot.
For some reason putting is extremely difficult. Not technically a knock on the game, but I can drive without any problems.
The biggest problem with the game is its control system. It only half uses the Wii's motion sensing. You do a backswing & freeze. You then hit a button to lock in the speed of your shot. You can then swing at any speed and it goes at the predetermined speed. The (comparatively) shallow Wii sports has you swinging the way you would in the real world (i.e. the reason they got you to buy the Wii in the first place). If I wanted to hit a button when I wanted to swing I would look to the last-gen systems.

This game does have far more courses than Wii Sports, but the control scheme is a sticking point. I can overlook the tough putting and other strange little things in the game, but if you are pushing a button to control your swing speed, instead of a full wind up and swing, then why bother with the Wii? Play some old Tiger Woods games if you are into that.
