 Written on April 18, 2008 Summary: Broke after 6 months I bought this television because of the good reviews. After about 6 months the screen started going blank. I would turn it off and back on and the picture would come back. Finally it went completely blank and never would re appear. I took it to a service center and am waiting to get it back. I never thought the picture quality was that good except on HD programs. Written on April 13, 2008 Summary: BUYER BEWARE!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I have a similar Toshiba 47LZ196 that I paid $3499.99 for in Dec. 2006 that is just under 1 year and 2.5 months old and the panel ($3400.00) crapped out on me. After being informed by multiple Toshiba reps that I was in the window to receive assistance I was informed NOTHING would be covered and I was responsible for the cost of the part and repairs. What a joke for a higher end flat panel. One year and almost $4000.00 down the old crapper. Such a shame since I really liked that tv.  Written on April 5, 2008 Summary: Fabulous picture quality I researched my LCD TV purchase for several years before taking the plunge. I liked the Sony Bravia and some of the Phillips models available. I finally did a side by side eyeball test at a local big box electronics place and settled on the Regza. For my viewing needs and tastes, the picture is equal to the higher priced Sony model. The Regza offers 3 HDMI inputs and is easy to set up. It was simple for a middle aged woman to handle the set and brainless to figure out where everything went. Consumer Reports also rates Toshiba as one of the top (if not the top) manufacturer of LCD sets. It was a great buy on Amazon and I haven't regretted it for a minute! Written on April 5, 2008 Summary: good option to the expensive sets I am very happy with this Toshiba Regza 32". I was tempted to buy one of the more expensive sets (1080P) but I decided on price and the single reason that it was my first flat screen tv after all. Two months later I am really happy I chose this one. It is very easy to set up and navigate the menus. I got the HDMI cable from Radio Shack. The $$$ 100 $$$ cable from Monster did not seem such a great deal compared to $40 at The Shack. I connected it to a regular DVD player and it looks fine. I shall wait another year before I decide if I want to buy the much touted "Blu Ray". 32" is really a decent size. The large screen tv's seem so excessive and cumbersome. They make me feel I am being sucked into a "tv world" of sorts. I guess they would be alright if you have an airplane hangar of a living room and you have to impress your buddies every sunday when you watch the " foo'ba " game together. Not everyone is easily impressed by gadgets and possessions. So, this is a nice enough tv. You won't regret buying it.  Written on April 5, 2008 Summary: Frustration CORRECTION: IF I COULD CHANGE THE STARS RATING, I WOULD CHANGE IT TO FIVE STARS. I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED BELOW WAS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT CABLE SIGNAL STRENGTH DUE TOO MANY SPLITTERS. SO THIS TV IS GREAT. STILL, THE TV REFERENCED BELOW IS AS GOOD AND CHEAPER. This TV was delivered to us on March 4th. The picture, which is fabulous most of the time, every few minutes goes completely grey, freezes up or starts getting pixated (little squares freeze on various parts of the screen). The sound also drops or gets garbled when this happens. This does not happen on our other HDTV, so it's not the cable signal to the home. We exchanged the cable box, and it continued to happen. Amazon took the tv back without any trouble. I'd give it 1 star, except I can't be sure it wasn't some setting that we set in error and when it worked the picture was gorgeous.
