 Written on February 7, 2005 Summary: If nothing else it was a very entertaining read, however- -----Most important, I want to say that I'm so glad I read this book. I got some amazingly useful tools (Microsoft front page, Andale and Auctiva) which I use wholeheartedly. -----The only problem I've been having is the advice about starting your bids below one dollar. Based on my very painful experiences, I would not suggest doing this unless you have a very popular product. For me, this advice only worked 50 percent of the time and it failed the other 50 percent, meaning that I lost some serious money. What happened is that I would put up nice stuff for sale that (for some reason) nobody wanted. Right before that auction ended, someone would see it and snatch it for a penny (I put all my auctions at one penny). This happened to me so much that I ended up making no money. Before I tried this, I was doing fine, so I'm back to putting a higher starting price on my Items. But, to be all fair, this method does work for a lot of people, so, perhaps it will work for you. -----Other than that one piece of advice, Steven White is right-on about everything else, and this book should be read by all Ebay sellers. It will give you a bag full of useful tricks that will make your Auctions look more attractive to bidders, and therefore, will earn you more money on each product. -----In a nutshell, take everything he says very seriously, but beware about the below 1 dollar starting bid, because unless you are a really good seller, that method will only work for really popular products that draw in a lot of bidders. Written on February 4, 2005 Summary: Great Primer I'm an eBay novice; when I bought this book I had never purchased or sold anything on eBay. I wasn't interested in selling on eBay as a full-time career. I was looking for an additional outlet for the books my husband and I write and publish as well as a fun way to sell some of the many artifacts we keep managing to accumulate. (And yes, as a way to buy more goodies too!) After reading White's primer, I immediately felt I had a good grounding in the finer points of accomplishing both goals--not as a perennial "jellybean" (White's term for eBay bean-brains)--but as a savvy merchant and a smart consumer. The book amply covers all the techniques described in the product blurb and does so in a conversational style that makes for a quick yet easy-to-retain read. White shares tips on starting an eBay biz with little (or no) capital and on how to expand your business once it's off the ground. But this is no get-rich-quick schematic. The author stresses that the successful eBay merchant must do his or her homework and must put in physical and mental effort to give buyers their money's worth. And isn't helping others while you help you and yours what reaps the real moral--and financial--rewards in every business? Written on February 2, 2005 Summary: This download is the best ebay book I've read by far Keep it simple - that's how this book's information is layed out - simple, and easy to read through! The strategies outlined have concise data that support their usefulness on Ebay or any other auction site. Bonus - I was able to email the authors with some questions of my own. Thanks! Written on January 29, 2005 Summary: Great tips for new (and experienced) eBay sellers There is a lot of good information in this e-doc. I think that the tips will help anyone who is new to selling items on eBay. The document guides one through the process of writing good marketing descriptions for their sale items. Also included are tips on going through a complete transaction and avoiding some common problems. This short e-doc gets right to the meat. Many bound books contain a lot of filler that one has to wade through to glean useful information. Written on January 28, 2005 Summary: Best Ebay Selling Advice! The eBay Secrets book has the best tips! I have done VERY well with my auctions since I bought this book. |
